I don't know too much about the camera stores in Namdaemun, but I definitely recommend purchasing electronics at Costco. They have a pretty good selection of 'pocket' cameras from Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Kodak.
The best part is all electronics are backed by a 90-day guarantee from Costco (in addition to the manufacturer's warranty). So you can buy, try it for 3 months and if you don't like it just return it for a full refund.
I'm planning on buying the Canon 550D SLR from them this month. It comes with the 50mm f/1.8 lens and some other accessories for about 1.2 million won.

I am interested in answers about this as well. I am looking to upgrade my camera and want to find a nikon d90, which costco does not stock (to my knowledge anyway). I would like to know where I should go to get the best deal as well! |

Seoul city hall - walk toward the gate at namdaemun. You will see the places on the left side of the gate, on the market side of the street.
You can also get good deals on DSLRs across the tracks from yongsan station (terminal building or nanjin arcade) but be aware of what you want and what it is worth.
Do a search back for DSLR and user "superdave" if you want a ton of specifics for buying higher end cameras in Korea (mostly DSLR stuff).
