Hi Does anyone know where I can repair a watch reliably and cheaply?
I have read in the forums about department stores, but which ones in particular? Does Emart count as a department store here ( I think they sell watches?) or is it just Hyundai Department store.
Thanks |

There's a watch shop in Jongno next to the YMCA. I can't comment on the guy's prices for repairs (my gf took my watch there and paid for it), but he does do a good job. |

Depends on the brand, and in Korea, you have to show a proof of purchase or authentication for the brand's Korea outlet to repair it.
There is Myungsungsa at Namdaemun Market. Take exit 4 out of Hoehyeon subway station and walk ten meters to Namdaemun Import Shopping Center. The repair shop is on the first floor, store #73. |

Thanks for the quick reply!
Although I can't speak Korean, would that be a problem? My watch is quite expensive (for me) I wouldn't want to accidentally lose it if I missed signing something etc... |

If it's a famous brand, then it might be better to take it to the official Korean dealer yourself and have them repair it. As for the proof of purchase, I think it depends on who the dealer is. What's the brand? |

It's D&G (tried looking for a Seoul one but couldn't find it)..
I have a friend who heard that his friend of a friend got their D&G watch fixed near or IN a big Emart a while back... I don't know which one it was exactly and I'd be dammed if I heard from this friend of a friend's friend again!...
Does anyone know if Emart (the big ones like Yongsan/Yeungdenpo) fix or even sell watches?

Go to any Fossil dealer but remember to bring a proof of purchase. If you don't have the proof of purchase, then ask for where the A/S center is and go there directly. |

Myungsungsa caters to a lot of Japanese customers but that might mean the owner speaks Japanese as opposed to English. Anyway, give it shot. |

I have two watches, a nice swatch and a swiss army. Got the band replaced on my swatch at a swatch dealer, no problem. Needed the battery changed on the SA, no one would touch it. Apparently in Korea, they have a phobia about touching a watch that they don't personally deal in. Back in the states, take it to the mall stands all the time for new batteries, no problem at all, but here....
I've had good luck with the guys in Namdaemun, fair prices, good service. I don't remember exactly which guy I've used, but it sounds like its near OR it is the guy yaya recommends. |

D&G it is. Then the official dealer must be the company called Woorim FMG operating under shop brands 'Gallery O'Clock' and 'Horologium.' They have customer service/repair shops at their HQ, another in Apgujeong and also in Daegu Lotte Dept. Store.
Postal address of the HQ is '서울시 동작구 신대방동 395-70 전문건설회관 23층 우림FMG' which is right across from Boramae Medical Center.
Apgujeong branch is at '서울시 강남구 신사동 647-25' which is to the east of Dosan Park.
One thing to remind you though, is that they're supposed to be on top of repair service only because they're the official dealer with the most experience and authentic parts. From what I experienced with my Timex, they might actually charge higher than other repair shops for some sort of 'guaranteed service premium.' The choice is yours. |

FYI, Fossil Korea HQ is on the 13th fl., Building A of Gangnam Kyobo Tower, next to Shin-Nonhyeon station, Line 9. I think their number is 02-3483-7500. |

Going to the dealer is the best, though not the cheapest and fastest, because if they mess your watch up, they have to replace it or send it to HQ abroad. |
