Are the public schools still requiring the 2 page on company/school letterhead reference letters?

This would be epic, gepik, smoe programs.

The ref. letters don't apply if you apply direct to the schools.~
I guess it is only if you apply through a recruiter who is hiring for the Education board... I guess every situation is diff.~ ^^

For the official application process in EPIK (which now includes SMOE) and GEPIK, yes you need two reference letters. When I went through a recruiter for my GEPIK job, they still wanted them. From all of the shuffling of paper that happened when I was hired, I feel like it is an item on a checklist that they need to mark off.

In terms of applying directly OUTSIDE of the central office and OUTSIDE of a recruiter, who knows? But why would they hire you without reference letters when so many other people have them? I guess it is possible if they needed someone quite quickly and you had all of your other documents for a visa or visa transfer ready.

Just sent in two reference letters, both on plain paper. They were accepted, though this was for a regional district and not through EPIK.

Probably would be best to just ask the recruiter or the person interviewing you.

You are quite right~To keep to the rules and make sure you get into one of the govt run progams such as EPIK.. GEPIK etc But every situation is different. And outside the programs it differs. As a newbie prob more beneficial. I never used mine but have had some made up just in case. If you have been here longer they may not care to see them(unless it is a really sort after position and you have high competition).
And like the above poster mentioned it is prob just a tick of the chart
and you could prepare something yourself and just have an old co-worker sign it ~ I've often used co-workers as refs. rather than bosses~

Anyway , just my experience and two cents~

I have 2 references.

I don't have 2 of the 2 page references on letterhead - because my employers thought it was a ridiculous request.

I asked to write them - let them revise them - let them sign them - and pay for the letter head paper also.

I wonder if the teachers currently working in Korea had to get these 2 page letters on letterhead - what the response of schools and the Korean government would be?

Would they be willing to spend that much time and money?

So I guess I could be in trouble then as the reference I have from my current job is just a I started on... current role is... and is believed to be suitable for similar role... Sucks working for the bureaucratic British government...
So if they are unable to give me a personalised reference would they hold that against me? It is just the longest job I have ever had (4years).
If I got the club chairman at my athletics club where I volunteer and coach to do me a reference on club stationary would that be acceptable?

Didn't realise it was that strict!!

You just need 2 references. No need for a letterhead, it says 'if possible'.

For public school jobs - most are through a recruiter or through the government sites - they all wanted the 2 page letterhead references.

I am not sure I have ever seen a way to directly be hired by a public school - maybe if you are already in Korea? but from outside - I haven't seen the public school jobs as an individual school.

Private schools just seem to take regular references - but then they have that consulate interview.

But.... as been mentioned, letters of reference not on letterhead have been accepted....

Perhaps you should just ask them.
