Hey everyone,

Was thinking of getting one of the new iPod touch's as my MP3 player is on its very last legs. However, I cant find anything on the internet about when it will be released in Korea, and on the apple website it says it will not dispatch for 4-5 weeks. I don't think my MP3 will hold out that long, or that I'm willing to wait so I was wondering if any of ye know anything about when it is out or where you might be able to get one. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

I was told a week ago at an electronics shop that the new Ipod will arrive in 4 weeks. The price will start from 329,000Won.

Well to be honest these Ipod Touches are W100,000 too expensive in Korea. You best be getting one through Apple Education, this way you get the US or Canadian pricing without paying a premium for not being in an Apple designated country. There is no official Apple store here in Korea, still.
Price of Ipod 3Gen 64GB in the US is $400USD here in Korea the price is almost $520.

I should point out to you that the new touches will be essentially a WIFI video communication tool. This I am happy about. For me it's a 64GB or nothing.

Here's a question though, how do you use your Korean teaching info for the education program? Last time I looked into that, they wouldn't allow it. I KNOW for a fact that they aren't stringent, but when I looked into it, there isn't a space on the form for international teachers.

Call Korea Apple(080-330-8877), ask to speak to someone in English, tell them you are a teacher and would like the discount.

BAM!!!

You're in!

As for comparing prices from the US, people fail to add in sales tax, and it is also going to need to be shipped to you, gotta add that in as well. Oh, and you might be pinged by customs, so may need to pay a duty (like I did for my iPad).

How much did your duty end up being?

Try again. The price is not almost $520.
$400 at bestbuy
$454 on Gmarket with exchange
Keep in mind in a lot of states you'd have to pay some sales tax on top of that, as much as $33 in california making the prices pretty close.

32GB
$300 in the states (+tax)
$317 with exchange on gmarket

Please stop posting misinformation, that is the 3rd generation ipod touch
That's probably the 4th time this month someone has said "you can get it for almost the same price on gmarket!" without actually checking the version.

I checked the version just fine. 3rd Generation 64 GB iPod Touch at Bestbuy

Its $40 off because the 4th generation is out, so obviously they want to clear them out, but you can clearly see the original price of $399.

When 4th gen comes here, it will likely come out at the existing prices of 3rd gen and the 3rd gen prices will drop, just like they did in the US.

Oh and for comparison, 32 GB 3rd ipod touch on Newegg
$289, on sale off $299
Anything else there? You might want to actually check prices before you run your mouth.

Ok..just to clarify...there is no education discount in the US (or Korea as far as I can tell) for the iPod, iPad, etc.

The discounts only apply to desktop and laptop items.

If I'm wrong, please let me know.

About 70,000. It was also held for a week because they weren't legally allowed in the country unless you were a government official.
