Hi guys

A couple of my old friends told me there was a swimming in Yeongtong, Suwon near the Homeplus. Unfortunately, this was a year ago and they have since left Korea. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction? I remember being told it was in a basement of one of the large buildings on the opposite side of the road to Homeplus near the large the large walking bridge. However, I checked these buildings during the weekend and I couldn't find it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm not sure, but I've heard it's in the Sports Center wherever that is.

um, yep? I think so. I have a co-worker who goes swimming, so I'll ask him. YOu do know that it's about 5.000 each time and super super crowded, right?

OP, if you do a Google Maps search for 수영장 you can see the exact location of pools in your area.

I go swimming four or five days a week, and I've noticed that it's far less busy at certain times (6-10 in the evenings) and on some days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). The place is jampacked in the early mornings and afternoons... having to queue for a shower. >.< Not pleasant. It costs 3,000 won for one hour (this will vary of course).

Also, this is a good time of year to start swimming. The 'season' is over for many Koreans, so the pool has quietened down a lot since summer vacation finished. I expect that it will continue to get calmer throughout winter.

There's a big sports club on the top floor of the building across from HomePlus. They have a spa so maybe they have a pool.

Well...the World Cup Stadium is a LONG way from Yeongtong if one is looking for regular casual swimming!

There are a couple of pools. There's one in the Community Centre. This is in between Pandal Park (the big park with the fountain) and the Suwon Immigration Office.

The other one is around near the library...which is difficult to explain....but...it's near Yongdok Elementary/Middle Schools.

Not sure about cost/popularity. You can get a membership for the one at the Community Centre, and there's also a gym there if you're that way inclined.

I believe the cost of the gym at the community center is something like $50 a month. Regardless, after looking at a few gyms around here in yeongtong it was the most economical. Probably not the best, but definitely nice enough for normal use. The pool seems like a standard nice 25m lap pool, and I have yet to use it, however I believe it's $5 to use.
