Here's a slideshow with a collection of amusing Football Chants. Some of them will make you chuckle - if you are British or Irish of course. If you are not, you're unlikely to get the humour, there's a whole lot of context and background knowledge required before you can understand what's supposed to be funny in any given chant...so give this thread a pass (NYC Girl excepted)!

The funniest football chants

If you can think of any amusing chants not listed, please post them.

I remember reading "You are only singing when you're whaling" coming up during an Adelaide United and a Japanese club during the Asian Champions League. It was on the Chants of the Week on the BBC site.

I remember hearing about one for Park Ji-sung at Man U...

Something like, "He shoots, he scores, he eats your Labradors!" Laughing

Just looking for something on Peter Reid. Not sure if this was what I was looking for (because I don't have headphones to check by listening to it) but I thought I'd post it anyway. And listen to it later....

Everton fans singing "No Woman No Kai" on Saturday made my laugh.

Chelsea fans used to change Patrick Vieira's song at Arsenal from:
"Vieira...oooh, he comes from Senegal and plays for Arsenal'" to
"Vieira...oooh, he comes from Senegal, his mum's a cannibal"

(to the tune of glory, glory, hallelujah) The old favorite response to Man United went to Italy to see the Pope (or sometimes Man United went to Buckingham to see the queen) and this is what he said 'Glory, glory Man United'. to Man United went to Italy to see the Pope and this is what he said 'Who the f**k is Man United?'

(to the tune of Seasons In the Sun) We had joy, we had fun, we had Tottenham on the run but the fun didn't last because the b@st@rds ran too fast'

West Ham had a man sent off against Arsenal in a year they were relegated and Dafoe scored to give them a 1-0 lead and their fans sang "We've only got ten men" Arsenal fans responded "You've only got ten points"

Chelsea fans used to sing this when the referee would award Arsenal a free kick that they felt was not deserved "Who's the gooner in black?"

Angry Tottenham fans used to chant this about their former captain, Sol Campbell, who went to Arsenal "He's big, he's black, he takes it up the crack, Sol Campbell"

"You're not swimming, you're not swimming any more" (England fans at the yanks during the world cup game this summer)

"10 alsatians walking down the street,
10 alsatians walking down the street,
But if Park Ji-suuung fancies one to eat,
There'll be 9 alsations walking down the street"...etc...(affectionate stuff from the Man. U fans)

Speaking of which, its not a chant but one of the funniest headlines I've heard of on the back pages of the english papers was after the England v. USA game. something to the effect "The Yanks Get A Spill They Won't Complain About' (after Robert Green gifting us a goal).

The satirical onion paper in America said this after we lost to Ghana "Ghana Defeats America's Interest In Soccer'

Classic Man Utd chant for Veron. To the tune of 'Seasons in the Sun'.

We had joy, we had fun
Juan Sebastian Veron
He's got skill, but no hair
He's an Argie
We don't care!
