Hello, well I am fairly new in Korea and have been here a grand total of 3 weeks! I was just wondering if there is anyone else out there teaching in Chuncheon at the moment? My boyfriend and I have walked around this whole damn city at all hours of the day and night and not another westerner have we seen. If you are, I would love to hear from you and meet up for beers. Let me know. Shocked

Its the capital of Gangwon-do, 90 minutes-2 hours N.East of Seoul. Nice city, great dak-galbi.

Sorry OP, can't help you at all. Just visited the place numerous times. Haven't you even run into GIs? They were always around the downtown on the weekends. Or have they already closed down Camp Page?

Actually I have a helpful suggestion: Chuncheon's actually not that far away from Guri. guri has a few foreigner bars and a lot bigger esl community. Go there at the weekends:)

If you want to meet Westerners in Chuncheon, get yourselves down to the Hard Rock Bar on a Friday or Saturday night. I'ts located behind Kangwon National University (the back or North gate). Many teachers congregate there, and there's a refreshing lack of G.I.s.

Thanks for all your replies and advice. I have been struck down with the flu at the moment, but as soon as I'm better I will be up and out and in the bars of Chuncheon. I was just reading another post about GnB Schools, and how someone thought they were really bad. I am working for them at the moment and have really mixed opinions. They do seem to favour the whole 'repitition' method of teaching and I fear I'm turning out little droids. How much freedom does everyone else have in their classes?
