I am trying to obtain an E2 visa to work at a school that is in the Daejeon area. As this is the case than my work visa must be processed in Daejeon.
I have found a service on the internet that will notarize and apostille my diploma within two days. They will send it to me in Korea via Fed Ex. When I receive the diploma I will have everything I need to apply for an E2 visa. How long will it take for me to get a new visa number? ( My prospective employer claims that in Daejeon they confirm the apostille and this takes four weeks time in addition to the normal E2 visa processing time. I disagree and claim that the only amount of time I have to wait will be the normal E2 visa processing time. Who is correct? )
2nd Question: I had an E2 visa cancelled by a school in Ulsan recently. How long do I have to leave Korea? Can I get a short extension? If so must I get the visa extension in Ulsan or can I get it done elsewhere?
Thank you for your help!!! |

1) 4-10 working days.
2)
IF you informed immigration of your termination of employment they would have given you 30 days (from your last date of employment) on your ARC.
IF you did NOT inform immigration at the termination of your employment then you have 14 days to inform them or leave the country.
Go to your local immigration office and talk to them. They are the only ones who can help you and will be the ones to give you grief if you are found in contravention of the rules.

1) You are saying that no extra time to confirm the apostille is required in Daejeon or elsewhere.
2) My former employer informed immigration. Must I do so at the immigration office where I applied for the visa or can I do it elsewhere?
Thank You! |

1) correct, that is why the apostille.
2) YOU, as the holder of the visa, are required by law to inform immigration of any material change in your status (change of passport, address, employment, etc.) within 14 days of the change (immigration law).
You SHOULD be able to do it at the local office.
