If you must really have a Rolex Submariner homage watch then that Longines is much nicer.

However I would much prefer a Breitling Navitimer, a IWC Portuguese or even my current Stowa Marine Original. But it boils down to personal preference.

You are absolutely right and I couldn't agree with you more. I love that style of watch and if I could realistically spend the money on the Submariner I would. Unfortunately, It's not possible. I have looked into other brands as I said. For Example: Ball, DOXA, SEIKO, Tudor, ORIS, UTS and SINN, just to name a few. The ones I have listed appeal to me the most. A second thought, Tudor. I'm adding it to my list.

Cheers,

Of those, you should go for the UTS. Or spring for an Aquatimer.

It's ironic how the technology of watch making has become so much cheaper, but the watches continue to increase in price.

At this rate, a Rolex and a knock off will be indistinguishable in 10 years from now.

OP- If you spend more than 500 dollars, you will be paying for a logo.

Seiko makes great watches if you pay more than 2-300 you are paying for the name

I appreciate the input. I own a few Seikos and they are in fact, great watches. However, they are not exactly what I am in the market for at the moment.

As most have said the watches that I am considering are all "rip-offs" of the Rolex Submariner, and becuase they are all so similar I am finding it hard to make the decision. Athough as of today, I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on the Longines.

Cheers,

oldsurly

(BTW I am a HUGE fan of diver watches)

Seiko also makes some watches that cost upwards of $1000. Their Marine Master runs anywhere from $1500 USD to almost $5000 USD. So I guess, I am confused as to what you are saying.

I have to say I'm an Omega fan. I've seen way better looking Seamasters than the one you are looking at, but it's all a matter of personal preference. I can't but help looking at them at the Duty Free shops at international airports.

The Longines looks nice, but I doubt it would look so nice in the flesh. Picture looks airbrushed.

I'm a metal watch band man myself. I prefer the sports look, I might keep the leather watch band look until I hit my 50's.

The Tudor looks very much like a rip off of a Rolex.

I agree, once you get past a certain price range, it's all brand name wow factor. My day to day watch is a top end Wenger, it sure turns heads but someone in the know will realize it's only a D grade Swiss made watch.

If I had the money, I'd go for a Breitling, but I think I'll go for an Omega in the future, but doubt I'll ever have the Aston Martin to match it.

I don't know if I'd called the Tudor a "rip off" of the Submariner. Tudor is owned and produced by Rolex.

He's probably thinking about quartz watches where most movements are the same and the value of the watch depends more on sapphire glass and watch materials used rather than movement complexity like in a mechanical watch.

A decent non-chinese tourbillon will set you back many thousands of dollars no matter what.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread but does anyone have any experience with internet watch dealers? I want to pick up a Seiko Sportura, but the one I like is 1.2 million in Lotte Dept. Store, but I found it for $400 at "CreationWatch.com" Anyone have experience with this company or able to recommend a reputable internet dealer?

Thanks for your help,

CM

The 3 things the ladies look at when deciding if you would be suitable or not would be first, ring finger, next, your shoes, and finally the bling on your wrist.

There are knock-off Rolex's shops in Korea and repos can be purchased at some jewelry stores and found online:

http://www.swissreplicastore.com/

I remember hearing of some store in Korea selling replica watches being assembled in China with inferior parts and sold at a profit here. Watch out for these if buying at a shop.

Also I have found some on Interpark, I can't say for sure if they are reputable, but you can look through them none-the-less. I hope you find what you are looking for.

You believe that? How about job, house, car, teeth. For the cost of that watch you could buy a used car. I think having a car would be more important that a watch. Most people don't even wear watches any more.

Thanks for the tip. But I already own a car and a house. So if the opportunity presented itself which of the 4 watches would you choose.?

BTW I have AWESOME teeth. Or so my dentist say's.

English Teachers shouldn't be wearing luxury watches. Who are you trying to fool/impress?
