Long story short, I left without filing for pension due to a communication issue with my coteacher. I've been getting the run around with the NPS and the SS office in the States has no idea what the deal is. Does anyone know how to file for a pension after you leave Korea? I'm a US citizen.
Thanks in advance~ |

If you call SS in the states you will get the run around. You need to go to a larger SS office.
You will need to complete a form called a 'Kor-USA 1'
There is a Microsoft Word version floating around on the internet but it will take a bit of searching to find it.
Complete that form, bring all the possible documents you can think of: passport, ARC (or copy of it or at least your ARC number), birth certificate, social security card, copy of plane ticket, contract, etc. Everything you could possible need.
Take all that to a larger SS office. Go through the process there. They will take the documents and forward them to the NPS in Korea. After a few weeks you will get a letter from the SS office saying they have forwarded the documents to Korea.
Then you wait.
And wait.
I'm still waiting. It's been nearly 2 months. |
