...at basketball.
Our 1-7 is great. They've been the core of 3 straight tourney wins dating back to last year. Good team chemistry, defense, and passing. We only lack a true point guard and a really tall center.
We got the twin towers. One of whom can really play the post well, bit of a Robert Tractor Traylor type. Rare to see a Korean kid who loves to by physical in the paint. He lives off contact. Constantly tries to send me to the floor and loves to box out. The other is good for filling up space, but he lacks a bit on the effort. They're big boys, but I bet there are some taller kids out there.
A Pau Gasol type Power Forward. Inside-Out guy who can drive to the hoop, run the fast break, spot up, and rebound. Quick, gets a bit too emotional though and can lose his cool. A Rip Hamilton mentality.
A really good combo guard who embarrasses the teachers regularly in his drives and hits ridiculous Tony Parker/Dwayne Wade type drive to the hoop type shots that make you go "WHAT???". Good strength for his age and size. Kinda has a Chauncey Billups type body- Good Strength. Really plays with an intense edge to his game. Shows the kind of cockiness you like to see.
A Winger who can drive a bit or spot up. The 4th best player on the team and plays to that role really well. Gets up and down the court on the fast break for a drive or spot shot or gets open and hits a jumper. Plays really relaxed and always has a smile on his face. Never lets things get to him.
A small forward who plays like the number 5 starter- good defense, screens, and if you ignore him he makes you pay. Keeps turnovers low.
A 6th man who is great at the cherry picks and can drive to the rim. Turns it over a bit too much tho.
Our power forward and the combo guard kid (he might be able to start even) could play backup on an suburban elementary school team back home (FYI its always the farm schools and the 'urban' schools that are the best- Those farm boys can ball). By Korean standards thats pretty good.
So let me hear how good your school's team is. I don't think I could pull off getting the team to tour outside the county, but you never know... |
