| "beer belly" is the biggest misconception. Beer is empty calories. Its the late night fatty food you eat with and after drinking that gives you the belly. If you are regularly active and avoid the fatty foods you'll be fine despite how much you drink. |

Aye, but there's the rub. The sedentary lifestyle of most "heavy" beer drinkers leads to the aforementioned beerbelly. But when if comes to the beerbelly I always say, "who needs a six-pack when you can have a keg?" |

Not entirely accurate. Alcohol shuts down the fat burning function of your body or at least seriously impairs it for hours (even days, if you binge).
In other words, the munchies after you drink and even food consumed the next day can go straight to the gut.
Oh, and alcohol also kills testosterone production so can give you man *beep* as you gain weight and lose muscle. |

Also beer is v high in simple carbs which will later on be converted to flab.

Yep. You misunderstand what the term "empty calories" means. All that means is calories without some kind of beneficial nutritional value. Something that isn't "empty calories" would be, say, a carrot, since it has lots of vitamin C, or dried apricots since they have potassium.
Beer is almost 100% carbohydrate, AKA the thing that makes you fat. Even the most active person will get fat if they consume beer regularly. Alcohol kills testosterone, which in turn shuts down metabolic systems.
Fatty foods and fats found in food have nothing at all to do with people becoming "fat" or gaining weight. Cheese won't make you gain weight, beer and pretzels will. Carbs are the only thing that can be converted into body fat, so actually, "beer belly" is almost a perfectly accurate term. |

Eat less food. A lot less. BUT eat more green vegetables. BUT remember, eat less food. Done.
Want to be strong? Lift heavy things often.
Want to be fast? Run often.
Want to be good at guitar? Play guitar often.

Oh, and for personal experience, I am on a cyclical ketogenic diet and I'm about 10% bodyfat, down from about 12%. 99% of my diet involves eating protein and fat, in amounts of over 3000 calories a day, without exercise, yet I still get leaner.
It's carbs. |
