|
|
I'm looking for game piece sets and dice to buy for games in my class. I know I can pretty much buy dice anywhere but it's the game pieces I'm having trouble with.
I'm looking for 40-50 game pieces (with at least 4 different colors, ideally 6-8 different colors). I want the game pieces to be like the game pieces you use in 'Sorry' or any other simple board game; plastic, smallish, and can handle being handled by numerous elementary school kids.
My coteacher has a set of the game pieces but I want a set of my own for other grades I teach. The website she used no longer carries the product. I've tried the normal Homeplus/Emart/bookstore route with little success. |

I'm also wondering about this. I found dice at Homeplus, but I'm looking for game pieces for board games and bingo. |

I haven't seen game pieces by themselves (but haven't looked), but what you could do get a bag of those small glass blobs that people use for decorations, fish bowls, candle holders, etc. You can probably get ones in different colors. If not, spray paint them.
Alternatively, get a couple cheap plastic chess sets. Spray paint the pawns the colors you want. |

Why not just buy a couple sets of Gongi (the Korean game similar to Jacks)? Seems like you could use those for your game pieces, although I don't know how many colors are available.

I agree you can get some pretty cool medieval style chess sets in the big department stores. Then buy a set of Academy enamel paints where models are sold. |

Before I actually bought a big set of game pieces last vacation, I would use the caps from "sign pens". You generally get 12 different colors with a set. I used lead weights I got from a fishing store to weigh them down a bit. Super glue will hold the weights in place.
Alternatively, you can use small coins with stickers attached to them. Buttons also work well as game pieces as do dried beans. Use your imagination. Anything can be made to work. |
