I am mailing my forms and contract to the school today. I assume after that is taken care of I will interview at the consulate.

How many weeks am I looking at generally? The position has an ASAP starting date. I want to give my current employer two weeks notice but don't want to quit too early

You should give your employer two weeks' notice. When my boss sent my visa papers, I got a number back in three days. It then took me another week and a half to send my materials to the immigration office, do the interview, and get a visa. You're going to want to give yourself some time to pack as well.

It can be as short as 12 days from the day you sent your hard copies to as long as 21-30 (depending on how long they sit on the school directors desk before he heads to immigration).

If the director is on the ball, you should be at the consulate within about 10 days and on a plane in 15. If he is dragging his heals, 30 days.

Packages, including the contract, arrived to the intended location on the 13th.

Recruiter told me that I would hear back from them Tuesday about when I should be moving forward with the next step. I haven't heard from the recruiter at all yesterday and today. I'm probably just being neurotic and anxious, but I sure would like to hear from them first.

I would hate for them to have a sudden change of heart for no reason and then me be without because I thought I was leaving soon.

edit: btw paul, how do you like Daejeon? That is where I am going to be, inshallah.

Yuseong.

Is that the same thing? Sounds similar, and since there is no proper way to spell something that is transliterated, I guess so.

Recruiter said that she couldn't get in touch with the school, but I'd definitely hear something from her yesterday. In other words, still no word on the next step in the visa process. I know I'm being slightly paranoid, but I hope it doesn't go south. Finding an English job isn't a problem, but I really would rather not have to go through the entire background/apostle process again. So tedious.

Furthermore, I hope that her not being able to get intouch with the school isn't going to be a reflection of management in the Hagawon. I've heard so many Hagawon horror stories that I have to admit I'm a little nervous.

Wow, school rejected me at the last moment.

It's not all bad news though. Recruiter said that she still has my documents and that she has me a public school lined up in ChungNam. Guess I'm going to ChungNam

If you don't want the job, then don't go.

You signed a contract to work with a specific school of your choice. This bait-and-switch move shouldn't be acceptable. Get new docs, tell them to piss off and get another job (I'm assuming they don't have your original passport).
