|
|
I just noticed a poster at my school for the JLPT in December. Apparently the cut-off date for registration is this Friday, the 17th.
I lived in Japan for awhile but my Japanese is rapidly fading so I'm thinking about writing the test as a way to help motivate me to study.
My understanding is that all the instructions are in Japanese, which should be fine. However if this is incorrect, I'm concerned my crappy Korean might be a problem in understanding what I'm supposed to do.
I'm curious if anyone here has written it in Korea, and if so, any tips or advice? Was it completely Japanese (i.e. no Korean)?
Thanks |

I've written the JLPT but not in Korea. The instructions were all in Japanese. If you read the test booklet beforehand you'd recognize the instructions even with beginner Japanese. |

I took and passed N2 this July. The instructions on the paper are all in Japanese, but when the guy in the test room (who told you the directions and to put your cell phones etc away) only spoke Korean, naturally. You shouldn't really have any problems though. |

I haven't found the registration form anywhere. One of the Japanese students at the school I teach at has said she'll help me register over the Internet tonight. I have no idea how registration works, though. |

If you could share the URL that would be great!
I found the following sites for the JLPT in Korea here (http://www.jlpt.jp/e/application/overseas_list.html), but the Seoul website is down. |

The Korean JLPT site is entirely in Korean though, so unless your Japanese friend knows the language you should get a Korean friend to help you instead. |

Yeah, it's entirely in Korean, but I managed to register with pretty basic hangul and lots of help from Google Translate. Some tips:
1. Use Internet Explorer only.
2. Use your ARC for ID and type in your name as written on your ARC card in all-caps.
3. Having a Korean credit card helps for payment. Real-time and virtual bank transfers can only be done during bank business hours.
One good thing about online registration is that it tells you of the time and location of your test site immediately, in my case at least. Good luck registering... and with the test! |

What I meant to say was that one of the Korean students who studies Japanese at our school was helping me.
I did it last night and it was actually pretty straightforward.
Here's a link for the main Korean site:

You have to choose if you want to write it at a testing location covered by the Seoul, Busan or Jeju organizations. The easier levels (i.e. N4 and N5) are only offered at a handful of locations.
And here's one for the all of the locations the test is being held and which levels they are offering:
