Hey, awhile ago I remember a few of you were blasting the coffee quality around Seoul. Seoul has a few very very excellent coffee spots to visit.
I am going to start by listing a few locations
1) Samchong-dong. Coffee factory, Caffe Beane, Hanok cafe.
2) Anguk area. Across from immigration next to twosome place is THE BEST COFFEE place I have visited anywhere downtown. (french name can't remember La Patiserie??) Head chef is from France and staff speaks fluent English, Gyopo. EXCELLENT service, and decent price.
3) Gwangwhamun- near the Canadian embassy is another area to look for coffee and Hot apple cider. |

| In Busan down by Gwangalli Beach has some great little places. Many also have a small selection of gelato as well. Nothing like a nice cup and an ice cream while people watching along the main drag by the beach. Even better with company and or a newspaper or a book. |

hehe i love to tell this story:
Im from a big metropolis and Ive been a coffee junkie for as long as I can remember. When I came here in 1996, I couldnt think of how to describe espresso to my Korean coworker, who didnt really understand anyway. So, I said "its an expensive coffee with some cream in it.' He proceeded to take me to a nice hotel in the city. Of course, it was coffee mix and it was like 8000 which in 1996 was really high. "here, expensive coffee, happy?" he said and we drank out maxim or whatever it was then.
Koreas alot better now, alot. Some of these guys can make a good cup of coffee. Thank god Japan's UCC imports alot here.
I did hear Korea has real espresso in some cafes in seoul in the early 90s but I wasnt here then . |
