There is a lot of literature on obtaining the F2 Visa, but very little on the F3.

I would like to hear from anyone else who has applied for this Visa status.

My application was refused the first time (Needed an embassy stamp), refused again (Needed some other stamp that I later learned did not exist) and was accepted the third time.

"Accepted" does not guarantee that the Visa will be granted.....is my understanding. I was told to go back in 10 days. Paid all the fees, $110 and bought the stamps so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Immigration officers I dealt with all said different requirements were needed for this Visa. Nobody seemed to have the "official" requirements.

Has anyone had their application received by immigration only to have it rejected during the 10 day waiting / processing period?

Would appreciate any feedback on this from those who have applied and either received the F3 or had their application rejected by immigration.

I'm in Korea on a C3 Visa (90 days). Married to an ESL teacher with an E2.

Married in Korea.

Vietnam does not require marriages to be registered in this case and will not involve themselves. A million emphasis on will not. BUT immigration requested that they stamp the certificate and the VN embassy refused stating they don't do it for anyone. Here was the problem.

Certificate of employment in Korea was not requested. Hopefully the visa will be granted. In 2 weeks I will find out. A sincere thank you for your reply. It was helpful.

That's odd. We applied in June. We were semi rejected the first time because he wasn't in the system. So we had to go back three days later. We submitted the docs. They kept the marriage cert!! And he got his F3 10 days later in the mail. He's from Peru. I'm an American on an E2. We didn't need any embassy stamps. We decided NOT to apply in Peru because of all the paperwork. He didn't have a C3 when he entered, just a 90 day airport stamp.

I got an F3 last month from an E2 visa, and it was very easy.

We were married in Korea as well.

We brought our marriage cert (made a copy at immi and gave that to them)

filled out a change in visa status form

Proof of employment

my passport and ARC

His passport and ARC

50,000 won

I brought passport pics just in case, but because I already had an ARC, they didn't need them.

They took my passport and ARC hostage for a week, then I returned and picked them up with a shiny new F3 stamp in my passport. I had absolutely no problems.
