Anyone else been trying out the beta these days?
It was working fine for me for several days and then all of a sudden on Friday night, the updater started timing out every time I try to connect.
I was curious if anyone else had this problem here or if it is working fine for them.
I was reading around the internet and a few other people were speculating that maybe FFXIV is blocked in Korea (by SE or Big Brother). Apparently, FFXI is as well?
I use KT here if it makes any difference. |

I can't be bothered paying for a VPN when I would only use it for one thing (i.e. a game). Anything free is usually junk. |

I tried the updater again today without a proxy or anything it worked fine. So, I don't know if it is a beta issue or what.
It would be mildly annoying to buy the game and then not be able to play it a month later due to some region issue. |

| I still need to buy a PC to play the game. I hope we do have a quite a few English speakers in this timezone. It'd be nice to play with a few people that spoke English. |

| I certainly plan to play it when it comes out, if my computer is up to the task. Perhaps we can sort out some kind of guild or something (I've not played the beta so don't know what options there are for that kind of thing) |

I highly doubt the game is blocked, it's most likely a beta issue.
Just make sure though the version of FFXIV you buy from here matches the same region your account is signed up for.
Can't friggin wait for this game! |

I can't say whether it will be a Japanese or American version, one thing I do know however, I will be playing in this time zone so let's hook up haha. |

I just ordered it from Play-asia. All the places I saw it locally were selling the pre-order for ridiculous prices. At least Play-asia keeps the price normal and you basically just pay 5 dollars for shipping. |

| Just ordered mine as well from Play-Asia. Shame they aren't carrying the CE. Not that I'd get it in time to play early but my friend wants the buddy pass. |

Do we know anything about system requirements yet? I have a fairly new laptop (which I deliberately paid a little more for so it can handle some new gaming...though it was almost a year ago I bought it now) but it's no gaming beast so I'm worried it might not be able to handle it.
Also, unfortunately, looks like the console version will only be for PS3...no Xbox 360 version this time |

FFXIV kicks around relatively new computers. Their recommended specs lists a GTX 460 as the GPU. It's not surprising considering FFXI was the same way at the time.
Definitely run the benchmark. Not much I can recommended for a laptop though. Personally, I'm buying a computer for gaming since my laptop can't run much of anything. |
