it happens to my handsome ass all the goddam time! 
the men either want to fight me because their chicks are hitting on me and they feel they have to prove themselves or the young women down right just grope, hug, kiss and at times rape me out-of-the-blue for no reason at all! it's dam embarrassing sometimes! 
just yesterday, on the subway, these two college girls come sit down next to me. one asks in Korean about what i'm listening to my mp3 player. i take off the headphones and the other starts to nibble on my ear whispering things in Korean my handsome ass just can't understand. all the sudden, one is atop my lap forcing her tongue into my mouth while the other giggles and starts lickin' my neck! we get to a stop, and they grab my mp3 player and cell fone and run off the subway taunting me to hurry and follow them! well, by then, i'm totally pissed so i follow them right to their dorm-room. they pull my handsome ass in and start to feed me soju and cheap beer. we get drunk and they take full, lewd advantage of my handsome ass! 
i feel so violated and ashamed... |

There should be no correlation between the amount of exposed skin and being groped/sexual violence. I'm going to pretend I am confused by what you are insinuating. |

Whether there should or there shouldn't and (obviously there shouldn't), the fact is that there is a correlation. Women dress provocatively to get attention, among other things. Sometimes the attention is felonious. |

Sure, there shouldn't be any correlation, but when one dresses like a hooker, she may very well be treated like one. I don't agree with it, but I don't go around with my genitals showing because some men ARE going to take it the wrong way. |

Coincidently I was groped THIS MORNING. First experience in four years. I was in Seoul sleeping in the jjimjjilbang near gosok terminal, and I awoke to find some late twenty-something guy edging his hand up my crotch. Once I twisted his arm he realized I was neither gay nor "in to it" and promptly jetted out of the sleeping area and back to the locker room. Suffice to say, my hyper-vigilance prevented me from getting back to sleep.
I find it interesting however, that the OP mentioned far worse sexual harassment in the middle east, the place with arguably THE most modestly dressed women. Experiences so bad she said that she was "shocked" by the "decency" of Korean men. Now I have a number of Korean male friends, but when I read that the milk went from my nose to the keyboard.
Exposure of skin and sexual harassment aren't necessarily related. What is related is how much "ownership" or "entitlement" or "power" the average Kim and Park think they have. Korea's sex crimes rate is far higher than the States (on a per capita basis) and that is country where women would were bikini tops to university lectures (I'm from FL so. . .) |
