How many war museums are there in Seoul? If there is more than one, which one is the best? I'm a lot more interested in learning more about the Korean war than Korea's previous wars and battles. Is it worth a visit?

The Korean War Memorial is probably the best place, though I don't know if there are any others. If you want you can skip all the old Korean history and go strait to the second floor. The videos that are there are great, I highly recommend watching them all.

The Korean Army Museum, located at the Korea Military Academy (Nowon-gu in NE Seoul), is excellent. I've been there countless times over the past two decades and never tire of it.

On the southern outskirts of Jinju, at Sacheon, is an airplane museum. Parked outside is a B-29, Corsair, Texan, F-16, Cougar, F-5 Freedom fighter, F-4 Phantom, Commando (cargo), Iroquois Huey helo, HUGE 'guppy'-like cargo (outfitted mobile hospital Korean war), Centurion tank, Russian T-34 tank, mobile giant spotlight, field artillery, etc. Inside the museum building is a gift shop and extensive displays, esp interesting englarged photos of air, sea, land operations in the Korean War, found relics, a BMW motorbike with sidecar (used by the Norks). It's a couple of bucks to view all this. From Sacheon airport west over the hill and there's a small sign, 'Sacheon air musuem', to turn right. Down the wide boulevard, cross a street, continue and it's on the right, can't miss it (giant planes parked everywhere). It's awesome, you gotta go. Alot of these planes were previously parked in downtown Seoul, at Yeoido, then moved down (in 1975 if I recall) to Sacheon, beside the aerospace factory. That must have been a huge undertaking, esp for the B-29 and much larger 'guppy'-like flying hospital. I'd be interested to know if they were trucked or flown, I'd assume the former. If you get lost trying to find the place just go to Sacheon Int'l airport there's a tourist info booth with a lady who speaks English. No worries once she sets you on track, the museum is only a mile or so from the airport.
