Look at that old guy, he's completely deaf and blind! Let's go help him cross the street!

Do you really expect us to believe some 28 year old white woman talks like this?

Besides, the guy was about 50, and not completely gray.

I think the OP already addressed this comment.

The reality is that nobody should get their ass kicked for shooting their mouth off. Just walk away and you are the bigger man. Women and men who want to start something are seriously damaged goods. Just don't go there.

Why does an argument have to involve physical violence? I would no more punch a women then I would a man. If a man is being an [Mod Edit] I will either stand up to him (verbally) or USUALLY ignore him. Same goes for any women who was doing the same.

I thought this was part of being an adult ...

I love martial arts. I enjoy training and sparring with people in my club. Hypothetically, I am pretty sure I could handle myself in a fight. But actually hurting someone outside the club who isn't training and is going to get up or wake up feeling violated and in pain is akin to rape. There is stuff I will not say because it injures a person's self-esteem. Even more importantly I will not violate a person's physical sense of self regardless of what they say or do. I can see that there may be situations where someone's sense of autonomy and self is so damaged by words they need self-defense, but one should hope those are exceptional and extreme circumstances.

I am still wondering how "that ride" was for the woman who "got into the cab" after her friends left in Itaewon a while back?

Hahah yeah there are still some sad sacks there and I usually get the best of them too because I just don't care who I piss off. Most people in Daejeon are cool though. Damn I need to get back to Korea because I have quite a bit of fun there.

Anyway, if you're a man, don't back up a woman if she's being an idiot. You need to make it clear to people that if they're behaving in a way which will reflect poorly on you, you won't back them up and you won't associate with them.

I was on a date once with a woman who was being rude and belittling to the waiter and I embarrassed her and told her to apologize.

PS: If someone is messing with the girl you're with and it's not her fault, give him hell!

I'm guessing you didn't end up in bed together later that night (but you still did the right thing- service people get abused alot. I speak from experience).

Look, this whole post was started because the OP got offended that some chick he'd been leering at for half an hour called him an 'old man'. It's rather obvious, isn't it?
OP - this isn't Thailand. The chicks aren't going to lie to you. Twisted Evil

Hehe Laughing

Seems like someone's been drinking too much PC (political correctness) coolaid. I don't understand why some random bystander would get all worked up (enough to post about it on a internet board) about some stranger using the term "old man".

Nothing wrong with saying "old man", "fat man", "hella ugly man"- Should you go around saying this to their face? Probably not a good idea, but why can't you talk freely about what you think/see to your friends?

Sometimes, the truth hurts.. Confused

The OP did not say that he had "been leering at" the woman who called him an old man.

He simply passed by her on the street, and that is when she said that.

Pay attention , Nero - and don't make stuff up.

I used to go to Itaewon with many of the other directors to have a drink after a late meeting. Granted, I was the youngest in the group (being in my mid- and late-30's at the time).
One time we walked into a club for a few drinks.
The irony is that many of the foreigners were the ones making derogatory comments about our group, since most of the guys were over 50- I have to admit we looked like the "grand dad's club"...lol. The Koreans never said anything- in fact, a few college-aged women came over to have some drinks with us. Boy! You should have seen the look of disgust on some of the foreign women's faces when they saw some young women hanging out with a "bunch of old prunes".
The funny part of the night was when this young guy came over and tried to talk to one of the girls- you could feel the chill in the air when she gave him the cold shoulder.

There are many other expats in Korea who are in Korea who are not teachers. They are businessmen, diplomats, etc. And many of them are not as young as the teachers are.

When do I think of the situation- f^^k it! The only I could assume is that she was nothing more than a loud-mouthed English teacher who didn't know any better.
I am a strong believer in karma- so she will be taught a very hard lesson later in life when she gets old too.

on a side note- it's my Birthday today- I turn the big 4-0.
I wish I was celebrating it in Korea instead of in a fortified office in Kandahar.
