I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like HDTVs are outrageously expensive here. For a country with two of the three top LCD manufacturers in the entire world, I would think that the TV's would be a bit cheaper.

I know most Samsungs you buy in America are assembled in Mexico, but I figure the ones you buy here are made in Korea. Shouldn't the shipping savings offset the cheaper Mexican Labor, making the manufacturing costs about even? Why such a high markup?

I guess that is on par with US prices for that model. But it seems the larger sets (40+) are outrageous.

simple. its called a monopoly. charge your people more to subsidize the global market.

if you cant get Sony, BenQ, Panasonic, Viewsonic, Electrohome or any other brand, why lower your price when you're the only outfit in town.

I bought a new 42" at E-mart recently. Most of them were in the 1.1 to 1.8 region. Asked the salesman if there were any discounts or special offers, and he said that one of them (marked 1.4) was actually 800,000.

A similiar thing happened to a friend of mine. Marked price was 1.4, but he got it for 1.

Still not cheap though. Smile

I bought an HD projector from gmarket. The nice thing is when I am done, I can take it home with me because it is small enough to fit in my bag and works on 110 and 220v. If you get an HD tv and are leaving after a year or two the value is going to plummet when you try to sell it. The projector cost about 700,000 won. Back home I had a nice 42' plasma and and going to standard definition here sounded unbearable. Also, if you enjoy watching movies or gaming you will save money staying in as opposed to blowing 50,000 won at the bar. If you have a schedule where you can't really go out and party every night, it is worth it.

It's on the side near taco chilli chilli. I'm crap at durectiuons, so just go there and ask someone in the street.

It's called 'the Yongsan Recycling Centre.'

Some good deals there and free delivery. I think I got a 3 month warranty

It was a rear projection. A Plasma might cost you a hundy more. I haggled down from 500,000. So haggle.
