|
|
Can someone recommend a good, widely recognized TEFL course that I can take online? Something that's worth a damn on a resume? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
PS don't tell me to use the search function, please. I did that and it won't load.
I'm looking for strictly online here. |

TESL is TESL; no real "highly valued" institutions out there.
That being said, I did mine at ICAL 9 years ago. The course wasn't difficult (a lot of writing) but I did meet a great tutor, someone who I am still in contact with now. |

Well I am doing TESOL atm with linguaedge. I read some good reviews with them. I am halfway through. Though it is very easy doing this online, you learn a little though I have no experience teaching only a degree. It is so easy to get high 90% and 100%. It costs around $280 US dollars, I am in Aus here so around $300. I heard there is cheaper out there for around $150-$170 though I wouldnt think they would be as good. I cant remember the site I looked up to rate which online ones are the best, though it showed linguaedge to be the best. But who knows the people who rated on that site might work for linguaedge.......
I think what I find important is being able to read and understand everything on it (always flicking back for personal study not so much for doing the tests as they are very simple). I have no experience with teaching a language though having learnt chinese for 5 years I reflect on the best ways to teach and this course gives me in detail even simple things I might take for granted when teaching. Overall I like it though it doesnt give you hands on experience. Good start to english teaching though |

What do you consider good as far as online courses go?
They are online courses. You're not going to get something as high quality online as you will for live classroom course. Not to say that all classroom courses are great either.
If you're just doing it to get a pay raise, go with the cheapest and easiest that your school board will recognize. Find a cheap one and then ask your school if they'd recognize it. |

you can do it online then get classroom experience after. Depends what type of learner you are really. Though honestly if you have time on your hands try a classroom one or at least get hands on experience before you go. I hope I get some classroom before I go though while I am working fulltime to do a bit of teaching study after work may help in the long run and looks good on a CV for Korea...
Give it a go because if you have at least 1 hr everyday which I normally dont haha you may finish it within 1-2mths easy. And you will get at least what ever you paid for it u will get out of it if u dont have any teaching experience! |
