|
|
I was trying to find a new place to visit in Korea and I've pretty much covered most other places I wanted to go to:
Danyang - the garlic central
Geumsan - the ginseng capital
but since I really like ginger, I was wondering if anybody knew where most of the ginger is produced in Korea? i am particularly interested in ginger flavoured drinks and food (especially cookies) and knowing how difficult it is to get them in local supermarkets, im assuming they're considered to be a delicacy
google searched yielded nothing on that
TIA |

Namhae Island produces 40% of the garlic consumed in South Korea. |

nevertheless, Danyang has the claim of garlic capital of Korea.
every dish comes with 5-6 different garlic based substances and the market is full of it.
I've never been to Namhae, but im pretty sure Danyang blatantly states 'Garlic R Us'
back to my original question, though
where would I find ginger? |

Namhae has a statue of garlic, and a goddamn garlic festival. The festival is in about April or May though so you'll have to wait a while for the next one. It's actually really busy too; traffic SUCKS around Namhae town during the garlic festival.
You can buy vast quantities of it really cheap too if you catch a farmer drying it in the sun. |

I went to the ginseng festival in Geumsan earlier this month. Yum!
I'd love to know where the ginger capital is too! |
