|
|
I ordered a bunch of stuff off Gmarket, but I have no idea when it is coming. I think chuseok might have screwed with the standard 2-3 day delivery. Some of things require a payment upon delivery, which I am a bit worried about because I need to be home when they arrive and I am new, so my Korean is lacking. I wrote down that I would prefer my delivery after 5 pm in the comments section, but who knows if that will work. If they call or text before they show up it won't do much good because I can't speak Korean and they probably can't speak English. I tried to contact Gmarket, but no one got back to me. |

gmarket customer service is closed over the chuseok holidays. they will re-open tomorrow so they will probably get back to you then if not the next day. deliveries are not usually made after 5pm but if you're not home, the delivery man will leave it with the apartment manager (door watchmen, whatever you call him in english), the guy at the door when you walk into your building. you can just check with him when you get home and give him your name and room# and he'll give you your package.
you can check the status of your deliveries in my gmarket. when it says "on delivery", you will get it more than likely the next day.
hope that helps a little.

yeah, all deliveries are delayed because of Chuseok, It's one of their busiest periods.
I ordered some chicken breasts a week prior to Chuseok, and they sent me a text to my phone saying it won't be delivered until early next week, aka after Chuseok. Did you give them a phone number on your delivery form?
they probably sent you a text - I suspected somethin and instead of deleting it outright as I usually do with Korean texts, I asked my coteacher and she translated it for me. |

i also don't mean to state the obvious, but the sellers are independent of the website. it kind of works like ebay in the sense that anyone can sell things on gmarket. however, it is clearly not an auction.
so contacting gmarket probably won't be much help. you would need to contact the seller. i've ordered a few things from gmarket and i have always arranged for the delivery guys to come after 6PM (I work until 6) or on saturday. the delivery guy will usually call the day of to make sure you are home. sometimes the seller will call or text if it is something larger and has a complicated delivery.
as someone else said, if you order something small they will usually leave it at the 경비실 (security office) if you're not home. that is assuming your building has one. i lived in a tiny villa last year and did not have one. |

good point furtak
I actually got the text message from the chicken company, not gmarket itself. |

Got that about the independent thing. We have been getting some calls and texts, luckily we have been around our coteachers during most of them. Some of the stuff is pay on delivery, so that is the only thing I am really worried about. Also, one item is really expensive, so I don't want that sitting in front of my door too long. I have a doorman, but last time we got a package he just knocked and walked away with it in front of our door. |
