Does anyone have any experience with Adventure Teaching? Been in contact with them a little bit recently and wanted to see if anyone might have some first hand knowledge about this particular recruiter.

The search functions don't seem to be working and I scrolled through a good 15 pages on the forum before starting a new thread. My apologies if this has been addressed before.

I've dealt with them. They are extremely helpful in answering questions and they (Scott, in particular) respond to emails very quickly.

However - and this is a big however - I found them very, very slow. I applied for positions with them in May and specifically requested public school positions in Gyeonggi. (I'm happy to teach any level but I have no interest in working at a hagwon.) Although I had all of my documents ready, I didn't receive a single job offer for several weeks. They did email fairly regularly to tell me they were looking for positions for me. Finally they emailed in August to tell me the public schools were closing for the summer break and it was unlikely they would be able to find me a position until September when the schools were back in session. They also asked if I could make an introductory video and send it to them, which I did.

In September, they emailed that an Avalon school was very interested and wanted to arrange an interview. I figured I'd go for it since by this point I'd missed pretty much all of the public school hiring. I responded to the email within a couple of hours saying I was available to interview any time. A few days later they emailed to say the school had filled the position before they'd had a chance to schedule an interview.

All in all, I've been disappointed with their ability to actually get job offers to me. To date, they've only sent the one from Avalon and it went nowhere because they were too slow getting an interview arranged. Some people have had great experiences with them but I'm using a new recruiter to apply for public school positions in March 2011.

Just to note: I'm a young Canadian female with blonde hair and blue eyes, BA and MA degrees, and some teaching experience.

Very honest, prompt replies, actually do care for their clients. Used them and don't have any complaints.

The search function on this forum is usually messed up. It's better to use Google. Use the following search criteria:

site:http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/ "adventure teaching"

http://www.google.ca/#hl=en&source=hp&q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fforums.eslcafe.com%2Fkorea%2F+%22adventure+teaching%22&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=7107a4e6866ad609

Adventure Teaching has been mentioned here a few times. I don't remember what was said. I just remember the name. Have a look though.

Wow. And they couldn't find anything for you?

My experience was similar to Siberian. I got the same email in August about schools being closed. The folks at Adventure Teaching are good people, but don't seem to have many leads on jobs. This could be because they're a fairly new company and don't have good connections yet.

I started thread about them a few months ago, and other people commented on their slowness: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=187284

i went through them and think that they are a good, honest company, they keep in touch with you even after you're in korea, but i did have some issues with them, mainly the lack of communication between the employees...
