Did anyone else catch this new show from HBO?
I just saw the first episode (I think it's the only one that's been aired so far) and it is fantastic. It is centered around the time right around the prohibition of alcohol in the States.
Steve Buscemi plays the lead role in the show as a man who tries to play both sides of the prohibition.
Check it out! |

I watched it last night. My husband says it usually takes me 2 or 3 episodes to get into new shows, but this I like immediately.
I can't think of a thing I actively disliked about Steve Buscemi's character. In addition, I am very interested in the post WWI angle and the returned GIs. I like it when period pieces (or in other cases science fiction) deal with modern issues. I think the approach will be enlightening but not heavy handed.
I look forward to watching this show. |

Glad you enjoyed it, too DP!
And it also might possibly be the first major HBO show ever without an incredibly irritating/horrendous intro song. I f'ing hated the opening songs for the Sopranos, The Wire, and a few of the other shows. |

Downloading this as we speak.
ep 1 directed by Marty Scorcese!!!
After the Wire and Sopranos I have high expectations from hbo... If they even equal the awesomeness of the previous 2 shows, they have done a great job... |

Scorsese and Buscemi know what they're doing. I'm hooked already.
Best thing on HBO since The Sopranos, The Wire and Deadwood. |

| Deadwood is a show that DEMANDS all your attention or you won't get the full experience. It is an amazing show, however, and I actually preferred it over The Wire... I know I'm gonna get crap for that, but whatevz. I like early American historical stuff. |

That song is by The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I love them more than life itself. Please just everyone go and listen to them. I was so psyched to hear it... even though they chop it into its beginning and its end. |

I caught it on AFN here, a pretty good show.
I think a lot of good shows are coming out this fall on a lot of networks. |

I think it'd be pretty amazing if you were able to become totally immersed in The Wire right from the first episode. It took a while for me to get into that show. I was immediately sucked into BWE. |
