Hip Hop
I'm not a big hip hop person but I know a few. There's a group of artists called "the movement". One of the main guys is Drunken Tiger/JK Tiger. He supposedly does a lot of word play.

Drunken Tiger's pretty huge. Look at the American heads he was able to get on his last album: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feel_gHood_Muzik_:_the_8th_wonder. Rakim and Bizzy are big names.

Thanks. The hip hop is pretty shyte IMHO, with DT being the best of the worst.

This is still my favorite Korean video of all time, with some hip hop as well, a well known track.

Considering how Seo Taiji basically invented pop music in Korea, I'd wager to say he's not "indie"

Thanks for the links. I'm yet to really get into any Korean music but it's interesting to hear. Here's a guy I kinda like.

I think Korean and Japanese record labels need to start hiring people who can actually sing. It's a profoundly spectacular epidemic that has yet to be cured.

You're right. I probably should have put Seo Taiji in his own category...I'm not good at categorizing. I guess he does a little of everything.

Joeteacher
Sure. It's in case you're ever interested...

It's funny I thought you were more into background music than vocals. Oh well. I do come across some nice voices but the rest of the song might be simple which works for me but not sure if that would be your thing. Jisun is said to have a nice voice. I tend to come across songs kind of randomly, maybe from a soundtrack, etc.

These are additional random songs I like:

Korean indie and hiphop is pretty polite and non-dangerous. good background music, but Ive never heard anything Id say is very "interesting." Drunken Tiger was an honorary Wu Tang guy when he lived in L.A. His music is also the most progressive, instead of reiiterating 90s U.S. hiphop. Listen to liquor shots, thats the most interesting kip-hop song ive heard.

i think a good melody in the song is the best you can hope for..
