Are these new national criminal record check requirements (FBI) just for Americans, or do teachers from other countries have to do them as well?
Are there English speaking places/stations for fingerprinting and notarization that are recommended for those who don't speak Korean? |

All the other countries (that qualify for English E2s) only have national checks (they all use a national data base). You can't avoid your positive record by going to the next province/state/city.
The US is the only country with such a fractured legal system that you can get around a positive finding by going to another state to get your check done and it will not show up hence the request for FBI (national) checks.
The police station up by the US embassy can take care of you (in regard to getting printed and having someone at the desk who speaks English.

Unless you hear from immigration that local police checks are good from Canada, get the RCMP check with fingerprints. I know some people are saying that local checks use the national data base but many local police checks like my previous one also comes with a side note that says
*Please be advised that if the above mentioned person were ever convicted of a summary conviction in a jurisdiction other than the province of New Brunswick that conviction would not be found in our search" and continues "was not fingerprinted, that conviction would not be disclosed in our search."
This search was also conducted using local police force records management system (RMS) and provincial justice information system (JIS) and the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC).
So I don't know if immigration overlooks this fact when they read your local police check or not. Why wait? I've sent off for an RCMP check a month ago just to be safe. Maybe you should too rather than rely on wishful thinking. |

It's called the federal system and I wouldn't have it any other way! |

Apparently a memo from SMOE lists both Americans and Canadians as needing national record checks, but since the memo is from JP no one is really sure what is going on. |
