The only music genre I despise is CCM. When I go to church I want to hear real music like some Black Gospel or Hymns or Southern Gospel or Classical stuff. But 90% of CCM makes me want to start smashing my head on the pew.
Young suburbanites are absolutely terrible when it comes to Church music and I don't know why. I mean its some guy with an acoustic guitar going "His love has me dancing" and I'm thinking "Whatever This does, it does not make me want to dance". Thank goodness country folks and Black folks still know that when you write lyrics involving God and dancing you better have music that makes you want to move.
Thank goodness I go to a church that is 90% elderly. Hymns in Korean beat English CCM anyday. Heck CCM in Korean is joyfully awful compared to the utter ruin of English CCM. At least in Korean I can't understand the lyrics. In English the lyrics are so...awful compared to good ol hymns.
Geez...I'm a crotchety old man and I'm not even 30 yet. |

I hate all rap music (and all its descendants whatever they be called).
I prefer melodic singing. |

| I despise anything from OK Computer, anything by Oasis, anything by Bob Dylan, anything by Neil Young, almost anything by REM, any of those folk rockers like Crosby, Stills & Nash and Credence Clearwater Revival, almost anything on the Clash's London Calling album, anything by Van Morrison except Moondance, anything by the Jackson Five, anything by the Violent Femmes and indeed almost anything from the US indie rock genre, anything by Rage Against the Machine, anything by Queen, anything by Aerosmith......but finally, my friends, if there's one song, just one song, that I absolutely hate with a passion, it's Hey Jude. |

| Jaebeom's cover of "Nothing on you". The original grated. He made it even more abrasive. And I hear the bloody thing three times a day. |

All Summer Long by Kid Rock.
That song with Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow - can't be bothered to think of the name right now.
Anything by the Black Eyed Peas. Their lyrics sound like they were written by a group of 14 year old kids as part of a class assignment. |

That song is terrible, but it is so true. If you grow up in Michigan, that's what you do in the summer. |

It's called "Picture".
Which reminds me of "Photograph", that heinous song by Nickleback.
Oh, I don't like "Freeze Frame" either, by J Geils Band... or "Centerfold", that's a creepy song |

Imagine.
They're all so unbelievably overplayed I just feel physically ill when I hear the opening bars. It's not necessarily the bands; I like Pink Floyd and Clapton and wish radio stations would play some of their other songs.
There's a special place in hell for whoever wrote a song that drags on for ten minutes about "I won't do that" but never explicitly says what that is. |
I love Lennon, but I have to admit Imagine is not that great of a song. |

All depends how it's done. There is a live Lennon version with off-key background instrument that transforms it. Also Eva Cassidy does a good cover. |

| Personally, I think Imagine is a pretty good song. There is so much worse out there to complain about than that. |

As it's approaching, stick all those seasonally ubiquitous Christmas songs in there. Reasonable for a week but by about the week before Christmas they drive me utterly round the bend.
Also most Coldplay songs |

Houston - I Wanna Dance with Somebody.
It tormented me at countless late 80's disco's......the amount of bad music I put myself through to try to get off with girls.......
Collins - Sussedio
My candidate for the worst song ever by anyone who was at one time in the realm of respected musicians. |
