What is the deal with this?
We have one coming in a week and before I call the pension office in the morning I wanted to have an idea about it.
Do they have to pay pension like the rest of us?
Do they get it back?
If they don't have to pay it, how does that work with the National Health Care?
The reason why I ask is because reading over the labor laws says that SA citizens are exempt from paying the pension but it doesn't describe why.
Thanks! |

South Africans don't pay pension. (We don't have a reciprocal agreement with Korea - other E2 countries will either get a "Korean Pension" after 20 or so years in K, or will have the money refunded in the case of Can/US. South Africans get neither.)
Healthcare proceeds as normal.
In terms of cost to company/school, South African's are the "cheapest" as the school saves 4.5% of the teacher's salary. In terms of the teacher, the SA teacher is better off than the guys who don't get their money back, but not as well off as the US/Can guys. |
