|
|
Have read through the threads on bringing foreign phones into Korea.
Will bear the cost (W200,000-300,000?) of registering my phone as I am very attached to it.
Need to know if my Blackberry Curve 8520 will even work in Korea. It's got GPRS/EDGE and works across Europe as well as North America and the Middle East. Not sure if it will also work in Korea.
Also, wondering if I could sign on to SK Tel (seems they are the only BB providers) on a month-to-month.
Thanks in advance! |

In theory, yes it will work.
But the 200-300 bucks and 2-3 months it will take to get it registered (if it even goes through) will be a pain in the ass. |

It will work just fine. BUT you will need about 10 days to get it registered on the Korean network.
It's a stupid (cheap, piece-of-crap-looking) certificate you have to get and it costs 306,000.
It says: This phone is allowed to be supported by the 'superior' Korean telecommunications networks.
Then you have to go to BB in Seoul and spend 3 hours in the office while they sign you up |

Thanks for the helpful responses!
Anyone been through the registration process? Where do I go to register it? What info do they need? |
