|
|
Its between gone2korea or Korvia.
They both seem informative. I can reach gone2korea by phone and have spoken to the rep. He seems knowledgeable, and the lady at Korvia seems cool as well.
Has anyone gone through these two?
I know recruiters are like used car salesmen, but I figure since Ive never been to the country why not go with a recruiter?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys. |

If you want to get in Korea, go with every recruiter you can find.
You should consider this like any other job hunt. Go fishing. Cast out a net and see what you pull in. It's obviously better to have several choices in jobs.
Not all recruiters have access to every job.
I think choosing 1 would be a mistake, but it's up to you. |

They were cool enough. They answered very question I asked and got me a job in the location that I wanted. |

I thought you were not supposed to go with more than 1 recruiter? I heard EPIK will toss yout your application or something like that. So I could submit my EPIK application to different agencies and not get blackballed from EPIK? Excuse my ignorance, I really dont know too much about all this, lol |

I didn't notice your original post mention "EPIK" -- if that is the case, just use 1 recruiter.
Or, if you want, don't use any. It's up to you! I used one for EPIK... I could have easily did it with out them, but it's kind of nice to get the occasional update. |

I went with Korvia and have nothing but nice things to say. They were way better than the other recruiters we struggled with. |

When I first started job hunting in Korea, I used one recruiter (one of the ones you mentioned) and wasnt very happy with how it was going. I started to use more and more recruiters. I applied to the other one you mentioned and never got a reply past a auto-reply. I finally got a position after applying to a combination of recruiter and direct school postings.
People keep asking about recruiters, well here is my 2전
In general, it is not as black and white as this recruiter is good and that one is bad. Anyone who has tried to get a job in the real world knows it is about how the stars and moon align. You could use a recruiter and have no luck, but someone else could use the same one and get a job immediately Depends on what jobs the recruiter has at the time, what vibe they get from you, what mood they are in, ect This is why I am not giving specifics about my experience, because it doesnt mean you will have the same experience. Both are ones Ive heard used a lot, so they are probably both capable of being an asset, so use them Both of them
I will say, when asking them questions in emails, keep it to one question per email Either because they are so busy, or because they just dont care, 99% of the time, I always got my first question answered and the rest ignored
I personally preferred dealing with recruiters who spoke fluent English. When I got replies from those that werent, I never felt like my question was fully answered, or they misinterpreted what I was asking. Then, I was worried about following up with questions, as this might give the impression that I was too needy and cause them to drop me
If you PM me, I will try and compile a list of recruiters I had the best vibe with... |

Oh, and if you havent gone that far in your research, the only exception to the, use as many recruiters as it takes rule is, only use one avenue to apply for public schools. If a public school POE gets multiple applications from you, you will be disqualified. |

Apply to every single one you can find, then apply for some more. I've just signed my contract in the last week and it took me a while and god knows how many recruiters. Just because they say they have jobs, doesn't mean they actually do. |

Whichever one gets you the job you want is better. There is really very little difference in recruiters. If you're after a hagwon job, then apply to as many as possible. If you're after a public school job, then just choose one, as EPIK/GEPIK don't like multiple applications. |
