I think so too. The weather was been extreme (by Korean standards) for the last year. In Seoul anyway.
I think I might have to buy an electric heater for my office. The office heaters run on gas and it doesn't get switched on until like November 20th or something. It was after the first snow last year.. stupid 'energy saving' which actually uses more energy because everyone runs expensive electric heaters haha.
I've seen long underwear in street markets.. grandfather style. |

Stay away from the long underwear here. It's very thin and next to worthless. I've blogged many times about the lack of winter clothing here. Last year, I ordered things from www.llbean.com Type in thermal underwear. They will actually ship to Korea when many companies won't. Their sizes seem to be pretty accurate. (Measure yourself to make sure.) I bought warm winter boots from them and thinsulate gloves from them. If you have a credit card, order from there. If not, ask your family to order for you and have it shipped to you. I suggest using your school as it might be more reliable for delivery. You will waste your time in Korea looking for warmth. Believe me, I've been there; done that! What Korea offers is for late fall and early spring at best. Only winter jackets sold here are ok for winter.
PS Over 150,000 worth is charged duty. They ship via UPS. But even with the duty charges, it will equal and maybe even be a little less than what you would have been ripped off for in Korea anyways. |

Various vest and legging sets (called Long Johns where I'm from) are in virtually every supermarket and street market.......never noticed?
They aren't as warm as full-on thermal underwear but they do the job. |

I second the Uniqlo Heat Tech recommendation. They also wick sweat away from your body. |

On the plus side, I can wear my warm clothing and go outside when it's super cold. I don't let the Koreans in on my secret weapon. Really frieks them out and makes me tougher than I am. I just tell them I'm Canadian. Ha ha. |

I will be buying some Bean Boots and wool socks from them within the next couple of weeks. I think shipping is around 40 bucks if it is under 150 bucks (free to ship to US and Canada if you want your parents to pay the shipping). I've read many good things about the boots but don't know anyone who has them (I've avoided cold weather locations my whole life). I would try to get something here but I don't have elf feet.
Last year I froze my toes off with sneakers and cotton socks. I'm from California I guess it is expected! I didn't even own a jacket until I came here. |

I'm from Socal....so I'm definitely dreading the impending winter. O_o
I didn't pack any super cold weather jackets, because they didn't fit in my suitcases. |

I ordered a winter jacket from them a few years ago. The label inside said: "Made In Korea", I guess is could've been worse, like "Made in China" |

Also does anyone know about electric blankets and where to buy them? Not the "blankets" that are pads you lay on, the thin kind that you cover yourself with. |
