I'm new to the Korean job search, so I was wondering if someone could help me out with a few questions.
1) I want to teach in a private language school (15 or fewer students). Most of my job offers have strange teaching hours (2:30-9:30pm). Is this typical or is it possible to request better hours (i.e. finish teaching by 6-6:30)?
2) What are the best areas in Seoul to live? For example, I have a job offer for a school near Guil Station...not sure how to find out about this area...
3) Has anyone been to Mokpo city? I know this is an area that is not typically desired by foreign teachers, but I do have a job offer there.
Thanks in advance! |

1 - Hagwons operate after the public schools close. So the kids go to the public schools until 2/3pm, and then off to the private schools. So yes, most operate with those hours.
2 - I'll let somebody else handle it...to each their own right?
3 - Little bit of 'smaller' city, but I've heard good things. |

1) language schools (aka: hagwan, academy, etc) run AFTER school gets out so unless you are willing to do kindergarten you will NOT find a job ending at 6:30.
2) It doesn't matter. Public transportation is quick, cheap and frequent so you would be better off finding a job based on the job and not the location.
3) It is a beautiful coastal area in the extreme southwest of the country. You won't be getting into Seoul very often but it is not a bad place to live.
