I am going to Seoul tomorrow and would like to check out Costco while I'm there. My main stops tomorrow will be Namdaemun and Itaewon. Is there one that would be convenient to either area? Do I need to have to have a membership to shop there?

I appreciate the links and the sarcasm, but as I'm not that familiar with Seoul and there is no subway stop on the map, it doesn't really help me. Directions from Yeongdeungpo station would be very helpful if anyone has them.

Razz

Subway Line 2 Exit 3 turn around and enter first alley to the right, past YongDeungPo Hospital, walk 3 large blocks and see the sign of the Holy Grail

Not my directions. Check out the link.

Just in case you've never heard of it, there is a phone number 02-1330 for free translation when you're in those situations where you need it. I've used it hundreds of times to communicate with the locals.

The other one in your vicinity would be the Sangbong Costco which if you're at that subway station, you'd follow the same directions as for the bus station in that neighborhood.

Yes Sangbong costco is pretty close to the subway station. Right now the exits on that side of the street are under construction though (as of about a 1.5 weeks ago) so you have to come up the other side and cross back over to get there.

I think they're very useful, actually. Teaching people basic internet skills is a good thing.

I doubt you'll see this in time, but leaving it here regardless for future reference:

You can take green No. 05 bus in front of Yeongdeungpo Station which drops you off at the front door of Costco. The route isn't the most straightforward, but you can never get lost inbetween. It takes about 15~20 minutes without traffic (but to be expected) to cover some 2.5 kilometers.
You will find the bus stop in front of Shinsegae building once you 'walk straight out of' Yeongdeungpo Station.

This will work for anyone new to Korea who wants to visit a Costco. You can find a Costco you want to visit by clicking on "locations" on the Costco website while on the English page- http://costco.co.kr/eng/index.htm then switch the page over to Korean and print out that same map (in Korean now) and show that to a cab driver.

Sometimes people need more than a "go search google" answer." People want some personal answers with insight sometimes.

The OP enjoyed the humor. She asked a generic question. She got a generic answer.

The answer wasn't "go search google". The answer showed the link answering her question using google. If you find that offensive, you are way too thin skinned to be poking around Dave's ESL Cafe!

She came back and asked a detailed question needing some "personal insight" and she got it.

What have you contributed to this thread, exactly?

Thank you. That's exactly what I wanted. If I want to search google, I'll search google. I certainly know how to do it. Al Gore didn't invent the internet yesterday, you know.
