To get my pension from what I understand I need to go to the pension office with a check from my home bank account and proof I am leaving the country. Is that correct?

You need:

Your ARC
Your passport
Your plane ticket out of Korea
Your bank information where you want the funds deposited.

Takes about 30 days AFTER you leave Korea (assuming your bank data is correct).

I received mine yesterday, September 30th, and if they went by when my contract officially ended, August 31st, then 30 days was right on the money. But I guess they had no way of knowing that-just saying.

My actual date of departure(and date on ticket I showed pension office) was August 24th.

Anyway, pretty happy to get it as you could imagine.

A precursor to this, if one is in their first month of a new position, how can they check to make sure that pension payments are being made by employer?

You can't. It usually takes 1 or 2 months AFTER you get your ARC.
Same as with your NHIC medical and insurance booklet.

Thanks, what if you already have your ARC, as in a year has already been completed (at another position). Can you still check in the first month or so, to make sure that the new position/new employer is contributing?
