Kimbap food portions are HUGE. Ever order a bowl of naengmyeon? It's enough to feed 2! Of course, I saw Koreans eating entire bowls or sharing two different things and thought I'd be fine. I have to admit that Koreans have noodles down to an art. My mistake!

Now the ajumma who cooks for my building makes me "diet-uh jjolmyeon" which is veg with sauce, minus the delicious noodles. She thinks it's funny, but it's yummy without the excess carbs that are so common in Korean dishes. Who needs a whole cup of rice?! Yikes!

Yes, I have been known to frequent 5000 won naeangmyon + kalbi places and eat the bowl (or two) plus extra meat. Then grab a waffle or ice cream for dessert.

You have a personal chef for your building?! Whoa.

Yeah! My ajumma is awesome. The only problem is that she takes random days off so I never know if I can have a lazy evening with some fresh veg or jjigae, or have to cook. It's just a hole-in-the-wall kitchen, but oftentimes those are the best places.

Now, I LOVE cooking, but it's cheap enough that it makes sense to order a good half of the time. Vegetables go bad pretty quickly in my fridge, so I don't always have the produce available.

Now if only I had a jimjilbang and gym in my building and I'd be set!

I very much doubt Shaniqwa in Harlem or Joey 'The Exterminator' Clams in da bronx be worrying bout how they'll fit into that size 10 at the next governer's ball that they watch their figures so much that they're going to answer negative to 'Do you want me to Supersize that?'

Very Happy

I'm laughing with and at the fact that your two typical New Yorkers are named Shaniqua and Joey Clams.

Who's next in your NY circle of friends? Seamus McWifeBeatty, Murray Goldenblattstein and Puerto Rikey Carlos?

Flynn MacGuiness and Ewrwin Splinsky.

yes, they (rest of the world) hate us for our cellulite!

USA! USA!

I will say a lot of Koreans are catching up quickly, especially women, especially ones from the lower socio-economic classes.

Same story the world over btw.
