|
|
hey hey,
Alright so I'm just throwing this out there to get some recommendations or opinions.
Last vacation I went to the Philippines and stayed in on Alona Beach..had a blast! Some family is coming to visit me this winter and were interested in seeing the Philippines. I'd love to go back, but not to the same place. Also, I don't really wanna do a party place like Boracay with my parents. Awkward! So..what do you suggest? Any recommendations? Beach area over city for sure. |

boracay isn't that much of a party place to be honest...at least when i went in 2008. plenty of quiet and family spots |

Cebu had plenty of craziness. Mango street and the Asia IT Park had plenty of bounce for the night times. A lot of Koreans and Japanese there though. Bohol is a 2 hour ferry ride away as well if you want some place more chill. |

Oh really? Good to know!
I always heard it was the place to be if you wanna stay out all night and dance or get wasted. In fact, on my last vacation, I went to Alona beach, because I heard it was way more chilled out than Boracay. |

Lol...did you read my original post? I'm thinking no. This is like exactly the opposite of what I asked. |

hahaha...no worries! I hear that! Yesterday all of my classes were finished for the day at 12:30. 4 hours is a long time to sit here, even if you spent have of it planning, prepping, etc. |

Puerto Princesa and Puerto Galera are possible choices. The first one is quieter with better nature and the 2nd one is more of a place for diving and parties, but not to the level of Boracay.
Subic Bay is possible too.
There are some nice places on Negros, but I don't know their names. Moal Boal? Something like that.
Bantayan. Yet another possibility. 4 or so hours by bus and boat from Cebu. |

Yep, Boracay is a great place to take the family. It's not like a Thai beach where you have drugs and dregs all over. |

Awesome..thanks for more info guys.
I'll have to re-think doing Boracay then. I was looking at Negros before too. I'll do some further investigation. |

I just made another trip to Boracay over Chuseok and loved it. Seriously, the Lonely Planet guidebook on the Phils says nearly nobody leaves Boracay disappointed, if any. I definitely must agree. |

I'm curious as to where most people's favourite places in the Philippines are. It seems like most people head to Boracay or Bohol. Any other gems out there? |

You could hit Negros or a number of other places but since the Phils is comprised of 7,107 islands, there's lots to choose from. |
