So far as I knew, an AIDS check is no longer a part of immigration requirements for an ARC. Wasn't that part of the updated visa regulations? Is it not in effect yet, or was I just imagining this?

I ask because my school just went in with my paperwork to immigration and was turned away because the medical paperwork said nothing about AIDS(positive or negative).

Is there any regulation I could point them to stop this already drawn out process of getting an ARC from dragging out any longer?

or am I just wrong in thinking this was one of the amendments to the visa process as of late?

I think the AIDS test is still necessary. The difference is that you will no longer be deported if you test positive.

ok, dang.

My boss asked them to check for AIDS. The stupid hospital didn't check. So there's another few weeks before I can open my bank account.

(Yah I know, can open with passport, but I want a debit card, and money transfer service and stuff)

EDIT:

Radius, whats with the douchery?

Cause we all know, AIDS spreads homosexuality..

You can open an account with your passport now, and then go back to the bank once you get your ARC. that's what I did with KEB bank.

I was being somewhat facetious, but mostly intentionally illogical.

I just had that ad in the newspaper in mind, you know the one that urged parents, if they loved their kids, not to let them watch that drama with the gay characters and possibly contract AIDS after it turns them gay...

First he should read your posts in order to have a suitable example.

The problem is that the baseline for who fits in these categories seems to be extremely low for you and would apply to a majority of the foreigners within Korea.

So when Radius brags about the copius amounts of pot he would smoke every day, he's not a pothead?

When hotwire gets arrested several times for petty theft, you still wouldn't consider him a petty thief?

When ying gets sacked from 13 straight jobs, you don't consider him a screw-up?

So when ying and his buddy pigface get so plastered that they are arrested for urinating in the street, my standards for drunks is too high?

When wishmaster self-describes himself by writing, "I'm a slacker and Korea is a slacker's paradise," I'm being too harsh to actually consider him a slacker?

Just what prison were you raised in that you think my standards are too high?

And no, I never said most users are that way. Just the ones that consider me a troll for speaking the truth.

i dont think its been a prerequisite for years - but they can still demand you take the test.
You can however, refuse.

this explains all and uses the HIV test as one of its examples,
