Has anyone here gotten a Myanmar visa at the Seoul consulate? They've recently suspended visa-on-arrival. I can't find much information regarding the embassy other than address. Any insight at all would really be appreciated. Thank you |

visa on arrival is suspended until they finish their elections. Should be back up again around November or something is what I remember reading. |

Yes, it is suspended as I mentioned. However, especially in a country like Myanmar, there's no guarantees that it will go back to normal after the "election."
Anyone have any insight into the visa process? I'm unable to reach them by phone; their three phone numbers don't exist. I'll try e-mail. |

with the election coming up i'm not sure how willing they will be to issue visas there soon. however having been there twice and having gotten my visa here both time i can offer this:
1) embassy is near the old hanam supermarket up the hill from an elementary school, hours to apply for a visa are 9-11am
2) cost is 25,000 won and takes 3 days pick up is 3-5p
3) bring 1) passport 2) 3 passport sized photos 3) a copy of your arc (they will not issue visas for people here without one so no tourists this aint bangkok) 4) copy of your tickets in and out 5) an itinerary for your trip there 6) phone number of your employer they will call them to verify you are a teacher etc they called my dept chair
4) make sure you keep the forms they give you besides the visa that is in your passport, they will collect those (in addition to the arrival/departure card and customs form they give you on the plane) i lost them and had a heck of time getting into the country, they let me on the plane because i had the visa but i had to smile my way through immig.
5) enjoy yourself there, its a wonderful country with fantastic people. hope to get back there next summer |

Thanks so much for the info. You can only apply in person? I work during the day time, and my boss isn't flexible, so getting there during business hours would be next to impossible. Is mail an option?
Are there visa services that will do this. The only ones I've found here are travel agencies that do a limited number of countries. I know back in the US there's companies that will do the running around for virtually any country. Something like that in Seoul? |

http://www.myanmartour.net/v1/content.php?mc=1&sc=10 appears to be one of the very few offering Myanmar visa application by proxy. (note the handling fee of 10,000 Won)
Their office is near Gongdeok, at '마포구 공덕2동 404번지 풍림VIP빌딩 615호 (우)121-718' but you'd surely contact them before you send over your passport. I wouldn't rely on e-mails though. |
