|
|
Skype has released its Android application to the Android Marketplace. It's wifi only in the US, but outside the US you can use it over 3G. It requires Android 2.1 or higher. It says that it is currently not working on some Samsung Galaxy S handsets, so it might not work for us with the Korean version. I'm downloading it now to use on my Korean Galaxy S. I will let you know if it works (or doesn't).
I don't have a QR code for it, but just search for "skype" in the marketplace app. It was the second result when I searched earlier.

Well, I was unable to log in using the app on my Galaxy S. This could be due to the problems mentioned earlier, or it could be because I updated my password online before trying to log in (has anybody else noticed that the Galaxy S keyboard is actually missing some characters such as "$" and "&"?). If other people try the application out, please let us know your experience. |

alas i couldnt log in either but check this (gleaned from engadget forum)
"Peter Parkes (Skype) 4 hours ago in reply to BodeNGE
Were aware of some problems with the Galaxy S, and are working to fix them in future. If youre running 2.2/Froyo you should be just fine."
so fingers crossed all will be good after the froyo 2.2 update is rolled out later this month |

I got it working. Haven't chatted using it yet as most of my friends are barely awake back in the States.
I'm on an HTC Desire with 2.2. |

It won't let me sign in with my ID. I can sign in perfectly fine on my ipad and on my laptop, but not the galaxy... |

Yeah I tried my galaxy S too but it didn't let me sign in. Guess I'll wait till the bugs are worked out and support for the Galaxy S is known. |

Don't we have to wait till Froyo is out? |
