Quick question, when they say they want "sealed transcripts" does that mean they want the official college seal on the transcripts and/or the transcripts have to be sealed in an enveloped with the official college seal? |

The transcripts have to be official transcripts but they have to be sealed in an envelope with the official college stamp/seal over the seal of the envelope, if I'm not mistaken.

If i am doing a teflonline.net 100 hour TEFL course, what do i list as the accrediting institution on there? teflonline, ITTT, or IATQUO? (as the site says they are accredited and moderated by the international association of TEFL qualifying organizations)
Also, im curious if anyone has heard back from epik who has already submitted |

Once a recruiter sends off your application to EPIK, is it too late to switch to another recruiter?
After talking to another recruiter, I felt I would benefit better if I went with them. But, the initial one I sent my application to mailed off my application to EPIK. Does this mean I am to stick with this one recruiter now?
It seemed like second recruiter I talked to seemed very honest and had their stuff together. But I guess that it's too late now. Its not a big deal or anything, but I was just curious about it. |

|
|
Quick bit of info for those applying for public school jobs starting in March, 2011. In case this hasn't been posted before - Americans can apply initially with a state level check, but they have to get the FBI check, and it must be submitted by Dec. 31. The FBI states that they take 12 weeks to get done, so basically you have to submit for your FBI check by this week.
With EPIK there is no penalty with regards to applying through more than one recruiter, EPIK credits the recruiter that gets all your documents first. |

Applying with more than one recruiter will get you disqualified for EPIK. |

Hi Meaghan,
Two officials from EPIK visited our office last week in Vancouver and did not indicate any change of policy with regards to this. Of course we don't advocate that teachers apply through more than one recruiter, and it is to no one's advantage since all recruiters submit a teacher's file to the same entity for EPIK, but I don't believe there is punitive action taken against teachers for this. Perhaps you are thinking of S.M.O.E. applications - this was the policy with the S.M.O.E., but since EPIK has now taken over from the S.M.O.E., EPIK policy prevails.
If you have information to the contrary, please elaborate. |

I was under the impression that transcripts were no longer required. |

Transcripts are still required. You need to send one copy to EPIK, but we recommend ordering 3-4 copies in total. |

So the information contained in this link below is inaccurate?
http://www.hikorea.go.kr/pt/index.html
Type "E-2 conversation teacher" into the search box
Scroll down to where it says "conversation teacher (E-2) related system improvement."
In that link it states "Submitting the sealed transcripts will be omitted (from 2010.9.1)."
The reason I ask is because a lot of teachers are relying on this information so since it appears inaccurate then it would seem there is a prospect of teachers being rejected at the last minute because they failed to provide transcripts.
And thanks for the heads-up. Appreciated. |

You can order transcripts online or by mail from most universities. It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and obtain a few sets of transcripts just to be on the safe side. |

There might be some confusion about EPIK/Immigration, in which case you're both right. It might very well be that Korean Immigration might do away with the transcript requirement (which would be awesome), but EPIK might not, which means you'll still need them.
These fluctuations in rules is the main reason why we suggest have 3/4 copies of your transcripts. First, as we know the rules change. Second, shit happens and one might get opened by mistake. You might spill coffee on it or mail it to the wrong place (trust me it happens).
It is better to have too many than too few.

Agreed which is why I will be bringing several copies. (sigh) And just when I thought things were getting a little simpler.
Oh well. The more things change the more things stay the same (at least with regards to the E-2 visa application). |
