I'm psyched.
I'll probably go but due to the cost 250,000+ on race day alone.
I'll opt for a hillside to go squat on somewhere with my obligatory mat, sun screen, soju & chicken. Maybe bring champagne.
Qualifying Oct. 22-23. Race Oct. 24.
Who's goin' or wants to meet up? I'll be comin' from Busan region.

I really enjoyed the Formula 3 international car race in Changwon in 2003.
The race will be in the middle of nowhere, officially Yeongam county (just south of Mokpo), expected to become a city around the track, though the race is but one day a year and there's only a 6-year commitment to the event:

The Yeongam race ("Korean Grand Prix") will be right after the F1 race in Suzuka, Japan and Singapore.
It's all about national pride, following the Japanese onto the international stage, one more thing to promote. Economically, it doesn't make sense, but given the need for regional development to placate the Jeolla provinces politically, and given the national support for such showcases, it's understandable. I think I'll give it a pass in its inaugural year, though I could ferry across to Mokpo from here on Jeju easily enough. I'll be interested in attendance figures though, and may give it a gander in the future, as the Changwon race was a hoot to be at, just for hanging out and chatting with fellow waygook watchers. |

Here is the Schedule from Eurosport.

Notice that they have left out the Korean flag and don't yet know the name of the track!
The world as usual doesn't know anything about Korea.
"Korea? Where's that?" |

I was going to go, but getting married that weekend instead.
Would've liked to have gone though!
I was just googling for other race tracks around korea right at this moment as before on MBC they had those ass clown idiots doing some time trial thing in a car stickered up with 'Korean Grand Prix 2010' but from looking at the track they were racing on that segment of the show was filmed in Malaysia! I guess the korean track still isn't ready, any good Korean motorsport sites to find out up and coming F1 info? Support races? Any spin of races events? |

Considering there's an F1 race in my hometown which I've never attended, only heard, it seems silly for me attending the one in Korea, but I'm half interested.
Reading travel forums, punters are very confused about accommodation and getting to the race.
My research shows that Korean Gov. is trying to promote tourism in Jellonam-do province by incorporating cultural things like a temple stay, and then shuttling people to the track.
It seems a bit of a long shot. Being very familiar with the area, there isn't too much to promote really, lots of rice paddies and a few temples. Madness really. |

Hey people, i'm a brit and believe it or not have never even been to Silverstone but decided to Christen my live F1 experience with Korea's inaugural GP. I'm coming from Seoul and have got a Sunday race day ticket. Does anyone know how I get to Yeongam and how long it takes? Also, any motels you can recommend as i'm thinking of travelling out on Saturday and staying over till the Sunday.
Any other brits or foreigners alike who are also going wana meet up?
PM me people. |

Has anyone scouted out the actual transportation options getting to the track itself?
This would probably be the biggest headache.
Hopefully they will have shuttle buses from somewhere. |

There are free shuttles going from Mokpo and Yeongam (Sam-Ho bus terminal) to the track and vice versa.[/quote] |

430,000 won for racing is pure dumbness. Just look outside your apartment window and see all the wannabe F1 drivers out there. It is free. |
