They're playing this commercial in the States at the moment:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4k_v3zNJu0

I knew from the beginning it seemed very... Korean. I then though, "Hm... could it be... Korean Air?" And by the end when the stewardesses start walking towards you, "Yep..."

It really seemed to me like a commercial Koreans would think would appeal to foreigners.

In my opinion, Koreanair has one of the best marketing campaigns in the country. They have a slogan that makes sense and is representative of the company: Excellence in Flight. It's not some 'Where dreams come true' or "Dreaming of good future [sic]' stuff you usually find with Korean companies.

In addition, they have a great domestic campaign where they showcase their destinations one by one.

So what if the commercial has a Korean flair? It's a bit cheese at points but at least they aren't using a girl who looks 14 doing a cutesy dance to some annoying song, in which the commercial ends with a three or four note jingle sung by a woman who sounds 8 years old.

True dat that the commercial is probably geared to overseas Koreans, indicating that Koreanair probably conducts and uses market research, which not all large companies here do.

I think most non-Koreans fly Koreanair and stop in Seoul only to catch a connecting flight to somewhere else. Nonetheless, I have trouble finding much better marketing than Koreanair.

Wasn't knocking it, it just stood out to me immediately as something Korean. I have never seen any other commercial in my life (in the States) that has stuck out as anything other than very American or Western.

I knew you weren't knocking it; just sharing my opinion on Koreanair marketing, is all!
