|
|
Just heard an interesting piece of news - my office of education coordinator, in confusion over the new E-2 policies, called the Ministry of Education in Seoul.
They informed her that they would be scrapping the E-2 Visa changes for this year, and instead, implementing them for 2012. Has anyone heard similar news of this, or, can anyone confirm that this is in fact true? |

That's nice the Ministry of Education said that, but they don't have the authority to do that. Only Immigration can affect visa regulations. |

Wonder why anybody would change that. Doesn't seem to be much reason to pushing it back a year.
Then again as my friend would say, it's Korea. |

There has been a LOT of incorrect information posted regarding this subject so I suggest unless you have information from the agency that ISSUES E-2 visas that you do not post hearsay. As best I have heard and read currently according to K Immi(who is the only agency authorized to issue E-2's) the changes are STILL in effect. |

12/21/2012? Maybe 12/22/2012 would be better. I mean, why go to all of that trouble if you don't have to. |

Relax guys - just trying to pass on possibly useful information as I hear it. Since nearly everything we seem to hear is 'hearsay,' I'd say my posting this does no ill. I simply wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything similar, and dispel rumor of such, if it is untrue. |

Kwangjuchicken - perhaps this is finally some 'logical' thinking on the part of immigration? |

Just heard from the Head Honcho of my Province. (a reliable source!)
The New laws are being delayed.
Specifics are you don't need all the new items for your first trip to IMMI.
For your next visit, i.e., one year after your next visit, you will need to have all the new hoop jumping materials ready.
I'm sure they'll be more posters coming soon, I just wanted to pass on what I just heard.
Yes, it seems as though IMMI DOES in fact listen!
There's hope! |

O.K., my reason for posting here was simply to confirm that the OP's remarks were not without credible support, and I'd hate to get in a postion where I give anyone on this board incorrect specifics.
There should be plenty of posts coming soon from someone higher up with the same info that would be better able to answer your question.
One more thought.
Since this fiasco of E-2 changes began, there must be at least 100 threads and 1000 posts from thoroughly confused teachers, applicants, and even recruiters!!!
The clarity and dissemination of accurate pertinent information by IMMI has been shocking!
Would it not imply that if 1000 people are saying "WTF", that it is time for them to put out a clearly written well organized statement outlining EXACTLY what is needed, in which case scenarios, when, and might I be so bold as to even suggest a FAQ list?
There is no excuse for thousands of ESL teachers to be spending hours upon hours on this board trying to decipher what is actually going on, and relying upon each other for info rather than the source.
Just my 2 wons worth. |

That Koreans would keep us in the dark about information directly affecting us, until the very last minute, is SHOCKING, totally shocking. I mean, who would have ever suspected Koreans would do that? It's so out of character. |

I rang immigration yesterday. You need to still get the documents, but a new visa can be processed without them as long as you have proof you are in the process of receiving them. The person I spoke to said that when I received the documents I need, I would have to present them as soon as possible at my nearest immigration office. |
