My hagwon near Seoul is having some financial problems, and they said they are willing to release me from my contract if I choose to go to another hagwon. I know my visa is tied to that school because of the contract I supplied, but I'm willing to go through the paperwork to find another place.

That being said, my girlfriend lives in Daegu and I want to find a decent hagwon there to save me the cost of traveling every weekend to see her. Does anyone know of a good hagwon that is hiring before the summer? I have heard sometimes teachers break their contracts without approval from their hagwons and leave early, and hagwons occasionally need someone to fill the position part way through the semester. I'm willing to work crazy hours occasionally if I have to, but I just don't want an employer who will screw me over down the road (I've heard so many horror stories, lol). It's hard to search for hagwons on the internet because I can't type Korean, so I'm hoping someone from Daegu or that has lived there in the past can help me.

Moonkkang is a great school. I know a bunch of people who work there and they get paid quite well/have nice apartments/etc.

They have a bunch of branches all over Daegu, but I'm not sure if they are hiring right now.

WWW: http://www.mkeslteaching.com/ (currently 'hacked?')

I also think one of the Universities (yeongnam maybe?) was hiring a bunch of staff, but I'm not positive.

Do you know if the apartments would be reasonably big enough for 2 people? I'm going to be getting married next January, so I'm hoping the apartment would be big enough for the both of us.

I don't have an M.A... you need one to teach in a university right?

Yeungnam is in Gyeongsan. They like to say Daegu but it's not. Granted it's a 10-15min bus ride to the subway but don't let them fool you.

If you need one they can provide you with a bigger apartment. Just ask about it when you contact them.

My husband works for Moonkkang and they gave us a fantastic apartment (2 bedrooms, huge living room and kitchen, separate laundry area). I think most of the single people just have 1 bedroom.

Good luck! It's a good, reputable company.

Apparently the website provided in this thread has been hacked so I have no way to contact them. Since your husband works for them, could you let me know the contact email for that company?

Try KNU. They should have openings in March in their Unigwon program. They have a kids program (best hours/pay), adult conversation and freshmen classes. The adult conversation are what I did and are split shift. Freshmen classes are not split shift.

i also worked for two hoggwons when i was in daegu. one was called n ivy institute which was decent and has locations in chilgok and sangin. I also worked at ebo young in sang in which was good. Both didn't mess with pay or anything but are typical hogwons when it comes to crap vacations.

I've heard good things about moon kkang.

Have any of you heard of Elite English Academy in Daegu. I've been offered a job there but can't seem to find anything about it! Thanks!

The extremely reasonable poster known as Yu Bum Suk knew some teachers at the Yale Institute or something. He always gave it ten stars outta ten and what not.

Sadly, he and some other nice posters were stricken from this site. God can only imagine why they are no longer with us on Dave's.

Hello. I was wondering if anyone else had any experience with MKE. I was just contacted about an opening they have and it seems pretty excellent.
