|
|
It would have to be zero.
I know I've made a post similar to this before, but it has gotten worse! Koreans have finally hit the final stage of their spacial awareness evolution and now they're immune to a ringing bell. I've decided to finally take the bell off of my bike since it is pretty much useless.
Not only is my bell useless, but I've actually noticed that sometimes some Koreans will just instinctively impede my path!
Can anyone explain this? When I was a child, my parents made sure to tell me to stay out of the way of others, but is that not taught here?
(This isn't anything derogatory against Koreans, I love them. Especially the lovely ladies).

I've got the same problem, but I still use the bell then shout "YA!"
I've been looking for an air horn. If anyone has any advice as to where I could purchase one, it would make my commute a) easier and b) way more fun |

I seriously think an air horn is a brilliant idea. You could get one of the small ones and put in on your bike. I really should just yell YAHHHHH!
If anyone remembers the old Nintendo game Paperboy, then you have an idea about what we're talking about. |

I've been having dreams about blasting one on my way to work. Seriously.
If I find one, I'll be sure to let you know where. Please do the same! I may very well have one shipped from home. |

I had a truck horn mounted on the side of my old Judd scooter in '07. It cost about 100,000 won but it was worth every coin to see people's expressions on the street. Most people didn't realize where it was coming from or it just didn't register that it was coming from a 125cc scooter. |

But just like anti-bacterial soap, the horn will grow useless and feeble. At which point I will have perfected my Pedestritaze 3000. Mention your Dave's ESL Cafe user id and get it for the low low price of 3 easy payments of 50,000 won. |

I'm looking for a 50,000 won horn tops. It's just a bike, and I'd want to be able to clip and unclip it, lest it get stolen. Any suggestions? |

The problem is that you're using a bell. You need to get one of the "space laser sound" devices.
One time I was on a path and I swear the bicyclist had a bird chirp sounding warning. I was like, "Really?!" |

One of the BIGGEST causes of WTF Korea?! for me. How does an entire population that has mandatory military training and a lifetime of taekwondo, kendo, and hapkido; be so completely OBLIVIOUS to their surroundings!?
Yogi buseyo always work for me when the bell fails. If they don't see that then I just keep going unless they are really feeble. If you look up, see a 250 lbs 6'3 foreinger on a bike barreling towards you and then decide now is the time you are going to text, your ass is getting ran over. The stop and stare is always funny too. I once had a bunch of adjoshis IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BIKE PATH, out in the middle of nowhere, having a soju party at 2pm. I just ran right through it and spilled some stuff. It felt great. |

my first year in korea i bought a bicycle and would ride often and people would always get in the way. i knew very minimal korean at that time and when i was behind ajjumas i would yell "YAHH!!!" thinking it was like an "excuse me." but man it's really rude to say. makes me laugh to think about it, some jerk yelling yah at ajjumas.
what i hate is when you're riding through a narrow alley, and there's a couple who is walking towards you, and for some reason, they MUST be walking side to side, they can't separate for a second to make way. irritates me to no end. |

Oh, I know that YA is rude, but I'm ringing my bell and nobody's moving. It's a rude YA or an accident. |
