If I file a complaint with the labor board, and then leave the country, will they still pursue action and try to get me my severance?

Or is there no point because they require you to appear in court?

Thanks for any advice.

If you appoint an agent to act on your behalf they will continue to pursue it.

They will NOT forward funds out of the country nor will they require an employer to do so. You will need to make arrangements for someone IN KOREA to receive the funds should you win and the employer pays.

If you do not appoint an agent to act on your behalf they will drop it.

How do you appoint an agent? And can the agent also transfer the funds?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

Appointing the agent is just a letter of authorization in writing (2 copies - 1 for labor and 1 for your agent) indicating that they are acting as your agent, they are authorized to speak on your behalf and anything they say or agree to in regards to the matter is binding on your (no appeal).

Yes, they can collect and send your money for you.

Do you simply pay them when you appoint them as an agent? And do you know the price?

Thanks.

The arrangements you make with your "agent" are between you and your agent.

Usually it is just a friend who will act on your behalf.
