|
|
I work for GEPIK and my school and I have discussed me re-signing my contract for another year and I am planning on using the 2 weeks signing vacation time they give me to travel home in January.
The contract states:
In the event a renewing Employee travels to his/her home country, Employee will be reimbursed for his/her round-trip airfare based on economy class airfare of the flight available from Incheon to the airport nearest to Employees residence within 2 weeks upon return to Korea.
My question is, based on your experience, will they allow me to fly into one airport and depart from another?
I lived in one city in the US away from my family and would like to visit people on both coasts. The total round-trip airfare as of right now is a reasonable $1,200usd, but I don't want to run into any issues with reimbursement.
Has anyone else flown to multiple destinations on your school's dime?

Yes, I'm re-signing.
No, I have not asked them about it yet. I would like to gather insight from others before I broach the subject. |

The main problem I see with getting an open-jaw ticket (that's what those are called) is that Korean schools like to book through Korean websites, which are cheaper. Unfortunately, in my experience, the Korean travel agencies don't really do open-jaw. |

Show them the tickets. Ask them if it's ok. If they say 'Yes', get it in writing. |

Tell them you have family in both places. You're flying to place A to visit your parents, then going to place B (where you'll fly out of) to visit your grandparents. |

Print out the cost, showing the details and highlight the price. Usually there is no problem, because the flight you mentioned so far (1200) is a really good one.
BTW- what airline did you book? |

Thanks for all of the advice and boost in confidence.
My departing flight out of Seoul is with ANA - All Nippon Airways
http://www.ana.co.jp/asw/wws/us/e/
The return flight and all connections are with United Airlines.
I have not purchased the airfare yet and will wait to get confirmation in writing first, but I found the flights through www.tripadvisor.com. |

You are booking each flight separately? It's usually much cheaper to book as one multi-city trip on a site like Kayak or Vayama. |

No, it's a multi-city trip, but I wanted to list the airlines as requested. |

Okay, good. Multi-city (or open-jaw) tickets can be a great savings if you're gonna make more than one trip, even months apart. I pay my own flight, so I got an open-jaw from Incheon to Amsterdam, then from London to the States a month and a half later, all for $1050. |

"Resigning" (the S has a Z sound) is the same as quitting. "Re-signing" (S has the S sound) is signing again. |
